Is an exhaust upgrade necessary as FBO?

With the mods below I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to upgrade the exhaust to get a little more power. I'm not interested in upgrading simply for changing the sound, and if I do go with an exhaust it would be the VRSF setup.

Mods:

7" intercooler
3" catless DP's
Fuel-it Stage 2
E60 tune
VRSF Inlets (currently uninstalled)

A secondary cat delete will gain you some performance with tuning. The stock exhaust flows extremely well, minus the cats.

Do most just cut them out and weld in straight pipes, or is there a bolt-in solution?

Replacing the stock cats with straight pipes creates a lot of drone and rasp. This is generally remedied with a couple of resonators. Keep in mind the stock exhaust flows well at FBO power levels. There is a power advantage when going with our exhaust at FBO power levels and the gains are even greater when going with upgraded twins or a single turbo setup.

Another advantage of our system is the decreased weight (42 lbs) and change in exhaust tone at WOT

Right now the current exhaust will fit with slight modification for the XI guys. We have about a dozen or so XI customers with modified exhausts. We need to finish up development of our F80 3.5" catback before we jump on the XI and race exhaust for the E90.
