Help with Dome light bulb removal..

So I attempted to replace all the interior bulbs with the extra led's I have in the toolbox but could not remove the outer two bulbs as shown in the picture below.

Thinking that my fingers are too big, I had my wife attempt to remove them but with no luck. I even tried wrapping a long nose with electrical tape but no cigar.

Please help..

I removed the torx screws that hold the visors in ( the clips closest to the light ) and then opened the sun roof, pulled back the trim and VERY CAREFULLY pulled the headliner down and pushed in the clips that hold in the whole light console and pulled it out and replaced the bulbs. I learned this all after I was able to get one out and broke the socket trying to get the new led into the socket.

Here's the instruction I went off but went through the sunroof instead of the front like they say to here. Hope this helps!

Those map lights were such a bitch to install for me. I tried myself and then had my sister try to no avail. In the end I gave up and took the car to my mechanic friend and he did it for me with a very small needle nose plyer. Took him all but 5 minutes total to do it and he didn't charge me anything.

1) Remove the center dome lens, 2) then remove the black plastic collar around each of the map lights, then 3) map light bulb replacement is EASY!

You must have some itty bitty fingers with super human strength - I couldn't even get mine out with needle nose pliers!

Thanks all. I was able to do this using the ECS instructions. Pulling the lining down is the only way to get it done.

I'm just reviving this thread, since I just got my 09 E90 last week and in process of changing the bulbs to LED. One thing I figured out is that you can just remove the clear cover and remove the black plastic cover on those map lights. And since my fingers are too big, and long needle nose wouldn't pop the bulbs out, I've used a wire tie and closed it in size and pull it goes , EASY. Another thing I noticed though, after I replace the OE bulbs to the LED bulbs I got off eBay the light would not work properly. I push the button on/off after I installed it and would not turn ON. I had to start the car and it would work, but then moments later it wouldn't work again up until I restart the car again -- same happens to the door lights. Could it be the brand of LED's I am using? No dash light warning either. I don't have any issues with these LEDs on another car (Toyota). Any advice? Thanks

This is what I did when I converted my interior to LED. In the video he removed the rear view mirror but I didn't do that.
