Timing correction causes?

How can you tell if your timing corrections are caused by either the map being too aggressive for your car (fueling, AITs, etc) or just plain old ignition issues (plugs, coils).

My car isn't misfiring, but I'm getting timing corrections while running Cobb e30. Never used to be this bad. Maybe this e85 batch at chevron sucks this time of the year
