Wow. I forgot what real rap is. Nice beats.
I stumbled across this on youtube. man, i forgot what a decent rap was. All this trash about bitches money and hoes just keeps me away from it and thats why i stay with techno. if only this kind of rap was more mainstream.
hope you like it as much as i did. (how do you embed youtube vids on here?)

"You make it sound like drugs, money, and hoes NEEDS to be spoken about in hip-hop/rap songs, and that this genre of music could not survive without it." one of the comments.

Deltron did some good stuff with the Gorillaz too.
Nas and Jedi Mind Tricks are good too. There's a whole bunch of guys out there. Auzzie rappers too like Sweatshop Union and Hilltop Hoods.

When it boils down..Hip Hop is still a business, nonetheless. So in order to get a lot of spins on the air wave and clubs, you need something catchy. Songs like "Uma Do Me", "Louie Bag", etc. have no substance but they are very catchy..hence why they're popular. This is why for the longest artists like Talib, Mos Def, Common, etc. never sold too well even though they were somewhat mainstream. They only began to expand a little while ago when Kanye started to mess with them. If you want to hear more of the 'deeper' side of Hip Hop..you should listen to Living Legends, Immortal Technique, and other underground bands/artists. |
