I say have it coded and make sure that you do not mix older index injectors with new ones I believe as long as it is series under 10 you can mix with 1-10 but series 12 def cant be mixed w earlier indexs.

Are indexes just another term for version? Any major benefit of running higher index?

There has been several revisions and the newer index 12 are supposed to be the best . I personally have all index 8 from my recall 4 yrs ago and have never had to replace even one so I say if its not broken dont fix it.

How do u determine the index? nvm, found the no 12 on the end of the injector.

I guess I can't mix 12 with 01.

Is there any particular reason why you cannot mix them?

You can not mix injectors in the same bank.

But you can have different injectors in bank 1 vs bank 2

EDIT: I proved my statement wrong this past weekend. You CAN mix injectors in the banks.

My bank 1 had all index 9 injectors and one was stuck open. Threw in a used one index 7 and all is good now.

Also I checked bank 2 injectors and all three injectors in bank 2 were different index.

What Jeff@TopGearSolutions suggested is a good practice but not absolutely necessary - "It's recommended to replace in banks of 3 injectors. Having 1 strong injector and 2 weak injectors will not ensure equal fuel to cylinders as your o2 sensors take an average of 3 cylinders to control fueling adjustments"

It's best practice to code them. Coding takes all of 5 minutes once you have the cable and INPA. Actually 5 minutes is a lie, it takes about 30 seconds.

Replace 3 injectors at a minimum if you want to do it right.

Thanks for the explanation. Below are original fuel injectors 1353 75865138-01

I had a misfire on cly 1 however I decided to take each injector out and cleaned the tips. They look like new

Car is running great and no misfires at all. I guess I'll need to buy 2 more if I ever do decide to replace bank 1 or 2 with the latest rev 1353 7585261-12

Only experience I have with windows 8 is on a friends computer and I quickly gave them the computer back. LOL

Upgrade to 10 or change to XP if you have the means.

I code with an old XP laptop seamlessly.

Found this:

Injectors with index 10 and lower have a different calibration and construction than injectors with index 11 and higher. Because of this the injectors with index 10 and lower cannot be mixed with index 11 and higher in the same engine.
