6 months into M235i, hearing whistling noise from moonroof
Got the car in October in Seattle WA so had not opened the moonroof until last week for an extended time (we hit 87 degrees last week--wow).
Now when I shut the moonroof at 50mph and above I hear a whistling noise. It goes away when I open it of course but not sure what is causing this noise. Is this a common problem with 2 er cars? Thanks in advance!

No whistling on mine....you may have a slight seal defect.
I was advised to "exercise" the sunroof overall mechanism by opening/closing it at least once a month to keep the seals in good condition...just a brief cycle which can be done in the garage or any dry day.

Have you looked into the sunroof when open to see if any seals or molding came lose?
When you close it and run your fingers around the seams do you feel any interruptions? And the whistling is there when the sunroof shade is pulled back then slid forward? And the TILT feature for the sunroof has been used, and when closed after using the TILT there is still wind noise? |

The whistling is only there when it's totally closed. Seems like a nit but it's annoying and actually can hear it over the radio. First world probems

I have zero noise with mine. I would bring it to the dealer and have them fix it.
By the way, I am with you and had not had mine open for many months until a few weeks ago. |

Hey, off topic completely. I saw an M235i last night parked on 1st ave in Sodo Seattle (in front of Ghostfish Brewing ~ 8pm). It was an EB 6MT car. Was that you??

I experienced this when my car was brand new. But, it went away pretty quickly, making me think i may have been closing it incorrectly from the tilt position. To close the sunfroof from tilt position in my last car, you moved the slider toward the back of the car. On this car, you move it forward. Since I've been doing that, whistling went away.
No idea if that's your issue, probably not, but thought I'd share just in case! |

I opened and shut it several times along with tilt and close several times so maybe it just needed some work. Cheers.
