Shouldn't the sound be more a function of the muffler, vice the engine? The cylinder count, engine size, stroke,bore size, timing etc are constant variables between the two engines?
If the new one is stronger (rods, Pistons) than the N20 and has more reliable timing chain - it will be a cracker of an engine. |

The B48 uses piezo injectors rather than the noisy diesel-sounding solenoid injectors in the N20 if I remember correctly.
I still can't get used to it and I have had my car since 2012....
