So long E90 post... You'll be missed

Hello m3post!
Well guys I did it, finally got my dream car after years of waiting. I've went from a Msport 2006 330i, to my unicorn 335i lemans on saddle with a stick, now to another unicorn.

The new car is a fully loaded 2011 m3 e90 without the sunroof which apparently is hard to find. The guys over on m3 post called it a "unicorn" just because it didn't have a sunroof. This car also has the comp package which was something I've been longing for.

Her she is

Why would you not want a sunroof? I like to leave at least the cover open for the light coming in, all year long, night included. Adds to the visual appeal with an extra light source.

The main reason is to get the weight down low in the car. It's the closest thing to the carbon roof on the e92 in the e90 from the factory.

Nice looking car. Hope she's problem-free.

Did you get a warranty? Have the rod bearings been done?

I'd love to get an M, as I really miss the sound and feel of an NA V8. But the rod bearing recall scares me.

Enjoy it! Loved my v8 in the m3! Was very very reliable, never skipped a beat.

It saves 45-50lbs of weight that is also located at the highest point on the car. For my M3 hunt 4 years back now, it was mandatory not to have a sunroof for the huge increase in headroom. I can't fit in a car with a sunroof and a helmet on. As for usage, I never use the sunroof. In the 14 years I've had my M5, I've opened it maybe twice. My wife's E90 330i we bought new and were stuck having to get a sunroof (prem pkg) has likely never had it opened that I can recall.

Inline, that's a beautiful M3, and yes it's a bit tough to find one w/o a sunroof, but approximately 28% of E90 M3s imported did not have sunroofs, so it's a much better situation than with the E46 M3 where the slicktops are truly unicorns. The biggest unicorn is a 2011 E90 M3 slicktop with a 6MT -- that took me a year of searching before I finally found one with the other options I wanted, but that was 3.5 years back when a lot of cars were beginning to come off lease, so for a while the selection was a lot better than today.

You can still post on E90post even if you are in a newer or older model. I do not think it matters. Stay in a BMW & you still get props.!!•*^,^*•!!

Nice buy OP. I can see the advantages of not having a sunroof (lower center of gravity, better weight advantage, etc.) But I still find the practicality of the sunroof to outweigh the benefits. A car just doesn't seem right without a sunroof. It's aesthetically pleasing and acts as a good source of light illumination and ventilation.

Other than wanting sunlight to come through the roof, I'm with the guys who prefer not to have a sunroof if applicable. No sunroof on E90 and I never wished that I had one. Have a sunroof on the MINI, used it less than a handful of times and that's when I first got the car. I wouldn't be surprised if the motor and electronics didn't work properly from the inactivity for 5 years.

But great looking E90 M3! I would truly consider it a unicorn if it didn't have iDrive (no sunroof + no iDrive = true unicorn) but you take what you're given. Congrats OP!

Nice ride OP. The more I see BMW's in white, the more I like the color. My next BMW is going to be white. Is that Alpine White?
