Service Bulletin for Rear Suspension Noise
My car was just returned to me after bringing it in for rear suspension noise. It was returned to me with the same noise and a new problem : TPMS Malfunction.
Upon returning to the dealership I was informed that there is a "Service Bulletin" for the rear suspension and it needs to be replaced !?! Anyone else hear of this ?

I hear noises when getting in my car too and sometimes when driving over uneven surfaces at low speeds.
Got a 2016 428i F36. Any more information on this bulletin would be helpful as I have to go in for my first oil change soon. |

Just noticed it a few weeks ago. Doesn't seem to be there after a real short drive, but longer one, for sure.

Sounds like the e-brake.. Happens to my car all the time with the e-brake on- no e-brake on, no springy mattress sound.

I was thinking the sound was something to do with the muffler/exhaust, as hanging parts (like the exhaust) can sometimes rub something and vibrate like this, but now that I heard about the rear suspension and a bulletin, it seems like this must be it, because the description is exactly what I have noticed.

It seems like people are talking about something different than what I've experience but I've taken my car to be looked at before because the rear suspension makes a lot of noise going over any broken pavement. The dealer said that since I have the F36 and there isn't anything really between the rear of the car and the cabin I should expect this. Is this service bulletin only for the F32?

For clarification..When you get out of your car, engine off, no e-brake on, the rear-end still sounds like you are a fat dude getting up off of a cheap mattress? I had this exact same problem and my SO said " you need to lose some weight." It turned out to be the e-brake.

It happens to me in my 2014 335i msport if I do not have the parking brake fully engaged. If I hear the noise I need one or two more clicks of pulling the brake up and then it goes away.

I have a similar squeaking from the rear that is only heard when entering or exiting the vehicle. I could manually bounce the rear of the car with my body weight and generate the noise. Thought for sure it was suspension related, but a quick troubleshooting of doing both with parking brake engaged and then released, showed it is the parking brake assembly when engaged making my noise.

Depress the foot brake, move to neutral, engage e-brake, release foot brake, move to Park, engine off. Car groans for a second when I step out of the car, and I'm on the skinny side. It only seems to happen when I park on level ground. |
