PlayStation 4 "Slim" is now the regular PlayStation 4 and will be sold alongside the PRO for $299.

PlayStation will fall. Big FU to the loyal PS people that stuck in there. Trying to make console gamers into PC gamers making them upgrade every couple of years. Not going to happen.
Not to mention them jacking up the Plus subscription with shitty indie games.

I wasn't happy about it myself. Seems like the "new" regular PS4 only looks different, no change in software or internal hardware from what I understand. So unless one is compelled to own the latest thing, the good old PS4 is still relevant to some degree.

I also read somewhere that the next system update will include HDR support across all three systems, so that's not too bad.

Im a little dissapointed that there's a new console out there but I will still wait and see what happens to the games.

The base PS4 is supposed to also get the HDR capability so the only thing missing is "4k" res which is just gonna be > 1080p and not full 4k.

Once my next PC build is done it'll leave PS4 Pro in the dust anyway. PC Master race is where its at

They had to do something to compete with gaming pcs... makes sense. Hope it can run good FPS at 4k.

I don't think it's true 4K. I think it's just upscaling 1080P. It also can't playback 4K Blu-Ray discs. Only true 4K content you can get is via streaming.

If you intend to upgrade to a 4K tv in the near future then there's a fair difference, albeit not as big of a difference as going from SD to HD. I have the 1TB PS4 Pro and really like it. I never had the original, so I can't compare speeds. I play on a 1080p tv and the graphics look pretty amazing to me. I just got Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank. Both games are awesome.

I own the ps4 since its day 1 release, no reason to upgrade to the ps4 pro, I dont think I would even notice the increase in graphics honestly. I rather pay for an entirely new console whenever they make their next gen vs paying another 400 for the same console with some upgrades.

friend has the pro with the VR. The PS VR is so laggy and choppy. frame rate dips. Doesn't even come close to my PC Vive VR.
IMO no point of upgrading. It's not even native 4k and graphics aren't any better.

I don't know if its just me but I don't find sitting in front of a PC playing enjoyable at all.

Wireless controller, big screen tv, kick back on the bed and play seems more attractive. Hence the PS kicks ass.

So im not really getting the PC gamers, am I missing something?

You know you can port games from PC to your TV. Also can make your ps4 or xbox controller wireless compatible.
Unless you spend thousands of dollars on a gaming pc you wont know the true meaning of gaming. PC gaming is also far superior in terms of frame rate and graphics.
You have to realize the processing power of a ps4 is comparable to a budget pc from 4-5 years ago.

Also most of racing games with the full steering are all hooked up to pcs. Can't achieve that with console gaming.

Ok in respect to graphics I can understand it, but really how many are porting to tvs and hooking up auxiliary equipment?

My feeling is majority of guys sit in front of a bigger computer monitor with highest resolution and key away.

Maybe I am wrong.

I do it on my Samsung 4k tv every time although there are limitations when trying to go beyond 80 fps. Most pcs nowadays come with Bluetooth so no need for aux equipment.
Most people can't justify spending 3k+ on a gaming machine compared to a $400 console so they will never realize how vast the differences are but your points do have some merit on your avg gamer

What a shame to hear about the VR being a letdown...and that's another $400 on top of the PS4. Anyone else experiencing same issues with the Sony VR?

I thought about grabbing the VR for my "old" PS4 but if it's laggy and choppy on the updated system, it would be a disaster on the old one.

No doubt that the PC is the far superior gaming system...but I'm with Wolf 335 on this one...I'm not serious enough of a gamer for that kind of time/money commitment...just rather kick back and have some drinks while playing FIFA and COD with friends on the weekends...

I played it on launch day at my buddies house. Hopefully it's more stable now with less bugs.The $400 package is not a complete package for you need buy the camera and motion sticks. One thing that got to me is why sony only used 1 camera and not two. Severally limits what you can do and what it tracks.
