G31 Touring cross country?
http://www.mestmotor.se/automotorspo...kta-och-bilder
I was looking at the new V90CC but there was that little rumor that distract me. Scott always told us that the X5 would do anything a cross country car would do but could it be true? |

The raised height makes it look horrendous.
Only time will show if there will be a g31 like this.

Customers would rather have the equivalent model in SAV form.

Actually X4 was derived from X6 because in markets where X6 was selling in large quantities, there was an opening for customers who wanted the X4. I should point out within that period in several markets there were less pre-owned X6 models as they were being snapped up as quick as possible China in particular. The X4 was the next logical step to bring a car to customers who could not reach to the X6.
The GT series initially started as the RFK a concept similar to the R-Klasse. But was re-evaluated due to the changing customer demographic in regards to older customers. Features introduced include a semi-commanding driving position, first class passenger compartment but with the elegance of a coupe rather than an upright sillouhette like an MPV. It found its niche, brought customers to the brand and exceeded its initial 10% projection of total 5er sales. Hence why the new one is imminent. The achievement of the 3er GT is similar. Over 130,000 units sold since introduction in Summer 2013. Its unique form of flexibility to the premium class appeals especially in the European fastback segment in which five doors are preferred over sedans. Again initially expected for 10% of total 3er sales. The GT has significantly exceeded this by 25% of total 3er sales.

I haven't talk about the C250D wagon Mercedes just introduced to Canada or the reintroduction of the V90 wagon from Volvo. There is a much larger market for wagon that Bmw might think. Maybe from a financial point of vue the X-cars are more profitable but it isn't true that the wagon market is dead. |

No. XDrive on the 5er Touring is more than capable without resorting to a higher ride height.

I don't know why MB is making it. I live in Europe, and I see few Audi Allroad than in the recent past. Things are changing, and in my opinion a car like an Audi Allroad has less market than a Qx series. In my case I have no doubt, if I need something all terrain, I would probably go for a SUV like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio for example, owing at the same time a normal car such as a 5er or a 3er. I don't believe in a car that can do everything: it's a wagon sedan, but it's 4 wheel drive, but it's also a SUV. I think that all these caratherystics doesn't live well together.... because at the end, you hjave only a sedan, that drinks too much compared to its normal sister, but it cannot be used as a real SUV can be used to. These kind of Hybridations are nice to see....but awful to drive, and I repeat, here in Italy ten years ago, there were a lot more allroad of what I can see now...because who owned an allroad in the past, nowadays has a Qx model, a SUV, not a wagon that wants to be a SUV. IMHO.

The arrival of the new BMW X3,X2,X5 and the X7 cancel out such models.
BMW xDrive is more than capable in the standard models that it does not require additional utilitarian attire. BMW's range of Sport Activity Vehicles are renowned for being more car-like because of their philosophy as the vehicle closer is to the road than other manufacturers Sport Utility Vehicles. And are more car like in Dynamics and feel. An X model virtually cancels out a similar concept. Besides an all new X5 due in 2018 will have a far better sales advantage.
