219m Refurb

I picked up a set of 219m in gunmetal/anthracite and plan on refurbishing them as they went through a gravel pit at the track.

Obviously will update with pictures when I get home today.

Wanted to document the refurb and also see if you all have some suggestions for colors to repaint them.

Right now I've got three in mind, but would love more. Car is BSM btw.

OE gunmetal or close to OE color
Gloss Black
Bronze
...

219 is awesom wheel. The build quality is there and is worthy of restoring to OE color. OE gunmetal look best on light color car. OE Silver look great on black car. I don't think black will look good on 219..

I keep looking at them and am starting to think the black wouldn't look great. I have to see if I can find some pics of the light silver on black. I've always been a fan of dark wheels but... hmmmmmm

I forgot to take some pics last night before I started sanding, I'll get some today. There is a lot of work to do on my set. Going to be a pita, but worth it

I did the same thing with 219s not too long ago. Check it out and let me know if I can answer any questions!

FYI they held up great during the winter. I curbed one side but overall its a really good alternative. I get compliments all the time. The only thing I would do us use a hardener as one of the replies in my thread suggested.

That turned out so well. What did you do to get everything sanded down so well? Between the spokes is so tough to get to.

Mostly just patience. Used a muti-tool sander thing (the triangle ones) to do as much as we could without having to do anything by hand. Inside the spoke and by lug nuts was time consuming. Don't be discouraged though. The end result is worth it!
