Traffic school and paying for ticket

I want to pay for my ticket i received for speeding over the phone since I have no time to go to the courthouse to pay. On the automated line, it asks me if i want to pay for just the ticket or ticket plus traffic school. I am not sure which option to choose since this is the first time for me.

I want to be able to choose my own traffic school and not be forced to take one that they choose and I am worried that if I pay for both the ticket and traffic school via automated phone payment, then I will be stuck to take the traffic school of their choice. Is that how it works? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would say pay for traffic school as well, so it doesn't stay on your record. Also, I don't think they will assign you any particular traffic school. And you'll probably even be able to go through online traffic school, which takes much less time, especially if you use some "special techniques".

yeah im just afraid that if i opt to pay for both fine and traffic school at the same time over the phone, they will automatically enroll me into a traffic school where i have to go sit there for the whole day. I'd rather do some research and pick one online that will be completed the fastest. haah.

relax joonsup.

if you go through the automated process, it will most likely enroll you in regular sit-down traffic school.

i would check with the court. for instance, for santa clara county, you can only go through one online traffic school in which they contracted. not sure about alameda county, so you should really contact them to see what your options are.

I paid for my traffic school at the same time as my ticket and then got a list of approved traffic schools in the mail later that week. The online ones are good if you don't feel like sitting in a class for 8 hours.

Make time if all possible bro.

When a state issues a fine, they put what they think is necessary assessment and usually it's not the minimum. I have been to traffic court a lot in my life and recently went this week for a fix it ticket.

In my experience, the judge will lower the fine because they basically feel it is excessive. Take an hour or two out of your day, go to court. See if they have night court. Most courts have night court at least once or twice a month. You will go up to the judge, the judge will say, what your violation is, and what the fine amount will be if you plead guilty. I was one of the last people and let's just say, EVERY single ticket was reduced down substantially.
For example, Failure to Appear, from $300 to $90.

Good luck.

you pay the fine and the traffic school fees. The traffic school fees allows you to take traffic school. They will give you a date on which you need to complete the traffic school by.

You choose whatever school you want, whether it be class, online, phone etc.

After you're done with traffic school you are given a certificate. You need to send that certificate into the court so they can mark it off and then send that over to DMV so it's not on your record.

yeah i nkow the process, but what i was concerned was taht since i have no time to go to the court to pay my fees, I was going to pay over the phone. When i called this morning goign through the automated process it gave me an option of A) pay fine, or B) pay fine and the fee for traffic school.

I did not move on b/c I wasnt sure if i chose option B, I might get enrolled automatically to a "sit in" traffic school as rob mentioned. But I think angela (not sure if that's her name) mentioned she paid over thep hone and they sent her a list of places you could take traffic school at in the mail. I'l just call just to make sure. thanks for the help guys

I went to traffic court, not traffic school. But the judge lowered the fine from $155 + proof of correction to $10 + proof. I'm not going to disclose what for.

hahaha i have no idea.

iirc, i was dressed pretty casual since i had work that day and the judge reduced my fine by half. first and only time i've gone to court. i went to court so i could take traffic school again in less than 18 months time.
