Consensus Tire Size for 19 x 8.5/9.5 Setup
Hey guys I'm moving from a 20" setup to a 19" staggered setup. The 20s were cool to look at but for me the ride quality suffered a bit. So I getting ready to order some 19" wheels with specs of 8.5 ET35 and 9.5 ET40, I have H&R springs just sitting in my garage that I didn't get around to installing them yet. I thinking of running 235/35 & 265/30, so my question is if I don't lower it will that setup be ok looks wise or should I go up to 40 & 35 series to close the potential gap? Also I did the aggressive look with the 20s, so I really want the flush look. I can choose a custom offset, so what would be the best offset to get what I'm looking for w/o spacers or whether I lower it or not? Thanks for the replies in advance.

I'm assuming this is for your 2014 335i M Sport listed in your profile? If so, the 35/30 aspect ratios are too short. You should be running 235/40r19 Front and 265/35r19 Rear. Personally, I would run 245 in the front. I went from 225 to 245 on the front on my M Sport and the difference was immediately noticeable.

What brand/model tires? What rims? Are you lowered? What was "immediately noticeable"? |

Immediately noticeable was the turn-in when cornering hard, or hitting curves at speed. The traction increase was obvious. The first place I noticed this was on a cloverleaf on the interstate. The suspension upgrade helped, but the much wider front rubber made the biggest difference. |

I'm running 245/35-19 and 275/30-19 on my 8.5/9.5 wheels. Never thought about going up to 40/35 series F/R. Hmm I wonder if I t would fit. That extra sidewall would be nice.

Also shopping for tires for a 19' 8.5F 9.5R on an ixdrive DHP and was told 245/35 and 275/30 would be best fit and closest to OEM.
I have read others on the forum run OEM 225/40 255/35 on the same wheel set up? I know 245 and 275 will look more aggressive but what else should I be worried about if I went OEM size besides the stretched look? (Discount tire said they would highly advise against putting 225 on a 8.5 rim?)... |

just posted on another thread regarding this. if you have xdrive, this would help.
for the 19's the exact combination would be 235/35/19 on an 8.5" wide front wheel 275/30/19 on a 9.5" wide rear wheel this in turn will result at an overall tire diameter of 25.5" which is .5" lesser than stock and will produce an equal 815 revolutions per mile. this is the safest set-up you will have for a 19" staggered set-up. i based these specs on what was posted on TireRack as per the specs of Continental DWS06. at times different tire manufacturers have slightly different specs for the same tire size for different brands. i would advise you to do also your own research if you are choosing a different tire manufacturer. some people say that the transfer case of the xdrive system would allow a slight difference between front and rear overall diameter, im not an engineer, but in a way i would believe that, but after several thousand miles how does this wear and tear affect the mechanical parts due to stress. i just had my transfer case changed at 54,000 miles, it was a $6500 repair cost. im currently is using a square set-up as per the advise of the service manager at my local BMW. hth. |

According to this website I found tiresize dot com
255/35R19 Equal 295/30R19 in diameter has anyone tried to go that big for rear tires? 225/40R19 -0.4% 255/35R19 diameter difference from oem Theses 2 sizes are identical in diameter. 255/35R19 295/30R19 This is what I'm thinking of running for summer setup. Why did you go with 35 all around as opposed to 40 in the front or 30 in the rear?
What tires/rims do you have? Thx Last edited by Kabrich; 12-06-2016 at 04:38 AM.. |

Most aggressive set up I would run would be 19x8.5 et30 in front and 19x9.5 et33 or et35 in the rear. 40/35 profiles will work if you decide not to lower it but may be too tall if you lower it. If you wait a few weeks ill be able to provide pictures of the wheels I just ordered
19x8.5 et35 245/40r19 19x9.5 et33 275/35r19 |
