Stock side or hot side inlet gains?

Guys,

I've done some looking but haven't seen a good dyno comparison of the differences in gains from stock side and hot side inlet positioning; anyone know if one?? It had been my plan to do stock side because I like the stealthy appearance but a local tuner basically said there are almost NO gains from stock side but 30-40 hot side... stock turbos here.

He's full of shit. While I don't have a dyno with inlets in yet (waiting til after the holidays), I have done 1/4 and 1/2 mile events and traps were up 3 and 5 mph respectively with stock location inlets all else being equal or even slightly worse regarding DA. You can extrapolate that into extra HP or maybe it was just magic.

Ha! 3 MPH in a 1/4 and 5 in a 1/2 is really big. I'd bet - in my case - 3mph in the 1/4 translates to one quarter second, which I "need"

With an xi it just might. On my car it's just translated into more spinning with street tires. Drag radials are next on the list though. Hell, even logging is iffy now. Bury the pedal at 2k rpm, build boost, and promptly get sideways and that's with really soft street tires (Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R's 275/30-19).

Lol, it's a great problem except for the part where I have to explain to the wife why I need to drop $1k on tires every yr... and I drive less than 10k miles a yr.

I run MHD w/BQ Tuning custom tune that's scaled. RB inlets, VTT outlets, aFe Stage 2 Pro intake, VRSF Dps and IC, ER CP and Forge DV's, Fuel-It Stage 1 and E65ish. I think that covers most of the important go-fast stuff. There's a ton of other bits and pieces, suspension, drivetrain, etc. that I won't even bother listing.
