Hi Guys,

Phone book in iDrive has sucessfully downloaded with names and numbers. However when dialling the number from the contact selection. Only there number appears in the iDrive screen. Normally their name and number is displayed.

This is also the issue when receiving inbound calls. Only the number is shown on the iDrive screen - no name.

Name of contact is displaying on the iPhone screen when receiving inbound or making outbound calls.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I have just updated the iDrive/bluetooth software and still occurring.

Hi.

I've had this before, but it's usually the iPhone's fault.

Have you tried restarting the phone? I can't remember how i fixed it, but it went away by itself. This was before iOS 10.2 so it's definitely not the iOS version's fault

I have tried to restart the phone, delete bluetooth connection out of the phone and the car. Might try reset network settings next.

yeah sorry... i couldn't remember what changed to allow the names to come back. I did notice that not all names were affected though. Not sure that helps or not.

I had the problem on my 6S Plus prior to 10.2 and I think once on my 7 Plus.

Not sure if deleting the pairing automatically reverts this or not.

I did notice that i had some contacts that would work and others that didn't (including my wife's )

A hard reset fixes most issues on the iPhones.

Hold home and power until the screen blacks out, few seconds later an apple will appear, when you see the apple let go of both buttons and wait for it to reboot.

With the iPhone 7 due to the home button being software based and not a real button, hold the power and volume down button, volume will appear to be going down but just keep holding till the apple appears.

Cheers thanks Feng and rednose. I fixed it by, deleting both bluetooth connections out of the phone and car. Hard reset the iPhone (volume down and wake button on iphone7 plus as per rednose). Shut the car off for a good 15 minutes. Then cleared all recent call history from iPhone. Started car and iPhone and re-paired it.

Not sure which one, or which combination did it; but it did the trick. Hope this helps if anyone gets the same problem.

Hi, I've recently encountered the issue above (having never had it before) and following the solution did fix it for a short time however it's now happening again - contact numbers only showing on idrive and HUD with no names.Very frustrating.

Did anyone else find that the issue came back and if so was there another solution?

i do find it's 99% of the time the iPhone's fault. Especially when i reconnect my Exchange account for whatever reason.

I don't typically do anything and it just rights itself. Perhaps after a close all apps and reboot type event. Hasn't done it for a while.

Thanks Feng, it does seem to have something to do with the exchange server. Will try the reboot and see how it goes.
