They tried that once already, didn't work out for them too well. After supplying engines to WilliamsF1 from 2000 to 2005, BMW was a full works team from 2006 through 2009 (read:expensive), and scored a whopping one single win in Canada '08. I wouldn't expect to see BMW back in F1 any time soon, if ever.

Even in its F1 days, it wasn't even close to thinking about making a street-legal car based on that tech. I've posted about this aspect, too: BMW does not have the financial backing for such a project, either. Every single major car manufacturer that also produces a supercar either has a parent company with deep pockets behind it or is far, far larger than BMW is or ever has been. BMW picks its spots. This ain't one of 'em, and it never will be.
