How does Priority 1 work?

I've seen many threads addressing priority 1 options (mostly Jade Grey and Lemon). How do these work? Can you only get them through certain dealerships? Do they cost more? Do they take longer to get? What other priority 1 options are there? Any chance of getting grey leatherette?

I'm not an expert, but here's my understanding:
Priority one options are available through any dealer, but the dealer can only order them for a customer ordered car (as opposed to a car for his lot). I don't think they cost any extra. I think the two options you mentioned are the only priority one options. Now, in addition to that, sometimes BMW will allow an individual color, which will cost more. But you have to have it approved and it's somewhat of a hassle unless the dealer is familiar with the process.

When BMW orders a vehicle, they have different priorities they can order.

Here's a list I took from another page, because I can't say for certain myself:
1 - Customer "sold"
2 - Center Own Use
3 - Priority Stock
4 - Stock

Either way, Priority 1 is any car that is ordered by a customer. Some options are priority 1, which means that only customer ordered cars can have those options (like Jade or Lemon). Dealers can't order those colors to stock their lot with them. (Though that's not to say that they can't place a P1 order and then say the customer cancelled to have that on lot)

Anyway, Priority 1 options are just like any other option in the car, they could have their own price, but Jade and Lemon are both the same price as any other leather. Also, ANY dealer can order them, and if they tell you they can't tell them you're bringing your business elsewhere.

I don't think E9x's have any other priority ones other than Jade on the E92 and Lemon on the E90. At least none I've ever seen.
