Things that define a car enthusiast?

What are common traits for a car enthusiasts? How can you tell the difference between the guy who buys the Jaguar for the looks/status and the one who doesn't?

They spend most of their time looking at their car, not at other people looking at their car...

True car enthusiast use cars a form of community and not as a form of separation. Like, a true car guy won't knock someone because they drive a wack car, or suck someone off cuz they drive a GTR. A true car enthusiast welcomes everyone and their opinions.

A car enthusiast smiles when he (she) walks out of a store and sees his car sitting there waiting. The car means more than just a way to get from Point A to Point B. It's a way to enjoy getting from Point A to Point B.

Don't think I've seen one with green stripes.

More than often, I'm found stalking the 993s. Spent around the same time ogling at this thing.

A true car guy places the needs and desires of his car before himself. Work harder so there's more money for parts or a new acquisition. Won't buy normal needed items for himself because the car needs something. Will spend hours away from friends and family because the "project" needs to get done. Always sees the potential of a car that others would call junk. Has parts stored in some room of the house(not garage) just waiting for installation. Knows the history behind why his car is special. Can speak engine and option numbers fluently. Loves every great car and can appreciate style even if not his taste. Has an internal NEED to own another car, even though 1 is all you can drive.

LMAO you just described my spare bedroom! I have 4 trucks and parts for all 4 in different sections of the room stacked 6ft high

I'll tell you all just how sick in the head i am, i woke up out of a dead sleep 2 days ago after dreaming of some new tow mirrors i need to install on my Tahoe...i woke up at 2am and began soldering diodes and resistors into the mirrors just so i could go back to bed with a smile

My wife tells me i need serious help!

An old saying that goes something like, "if you don't look back at your car when walking away, you've bought the wrong car".

I so loved my 2001 E38 that I'd always take a long look back at it when I parked it and was walking into a store. Once I was in a pub in town and sitting at the bar when I overheard two other guys talking about the awesome BMW sitting out front. I didn't even bother to hide my smile.

That car was a serious love/hate relationship. When it was running right, it was the best car I've ever owned. But damn, that thing would break down every other month like clockwork. It was always something. Still, I loved driving it.

The desire to always have more horsepower...and a love of the smell of car wax...plus the knowledge you can never own too many cars.
