2007 X-Pipe loss of high end power possibility
I have a 2007, which has a resonator, and I'm thinking of putting in an x-pipe. Currently, I'm running catless dp's and the rest of the exhaust is stock. I plan on performing the PE mod in the future, but wanted to do everything in stages to see how it sounds individually.
Everything I've read and heard online points to this being a good way to go - both sound and performance wise. I called a very reputable exhaust shop, which a lot of guys on this forum have used, and he recommended not doing the x-pipe as he's had a lot of customers come back complaining of top end power loss. I'm also running stage 2+ MHD with all other supporting mods. Thanks! |

I cut out my resonated xpipe a couple of months back and they welded two straightish pipes in it's place to the stock mufflers, didnt notice any power loss just a much meaner sound. Running MHD stg1 with catless dp and intakes

Get a performance exhaust if budget allows(you already have Downpipes) , it sounds a lot better than the xpipe/PE mod, plus it will save you a big hassle and time... IMHO

Lol no you won't lose any top end power. Pretty surprising a reputable shop would tell you this. If you want more assurance, remember that the coupes come this way as does the BMW Performance Exhaust for the sedan. I also have an X pipe on my sedan and it makes zero difference in power.

I have an x-pipe in my e90 welded in place of resonator and no "top-end" power loss. sound is pretty cool

Haha yeah if anything I had a very slight gain cuz I ditched the terrible smushed stock exhaust tubing right by the resonator. I have a 2.5 magnaflow x and the pe mod with kittyless dp's and it sounds great. Very mild drone, like enough hat I can't hear it unless I'm next to a wall, and 90% as loud as muffler deletes
