Keep hearing these stories but every year I put my details into Compare the etc, my insurance gets cheaper. Just got a quote on upcoming 340 F31 and £400 fully comp seems very reasonable to me. I know I'm old (55) and can garage the car but Sarf London isn't a particularly crime free area!

My 335d has cost me much the same 3 years in a row now. I suppose that's still a rise given that I've now got more NCD, but not a 25% rise!

Has IPT not gone up recently?

Mines not expensive at £380 for the 435d including the ACS spring mod. but last year it was £309. Just seams a lot in a year.

Remember paying £1k + when I was young on nothing particularly exotic(E30 325/golf GTi etc) so today's rates seem cheap. My Classic Alfa has gone up a lot this year though-about £110 last year £180 this. Was able to put my 25 year old son on it for an extra £50 though so he's happy at least!

You just remeinded me when I insured powerful bikes back in the 80's. It cost me £450 a year. I only took home £55 a week. So about £4500 in today's money. I'll shut up then.

I bet that can be reduced if you do a search and go through a cashback site as well, on renewal most companies try it on

New customers only........

The problem is the ACS springs. as soon as you mention mods they want you to phone them.

Why not get the best comparison price without springs then phone them to say you are adding springs to the car before you start the new policy

You may find it cheaper as the mods normally only add a small amount rather than throw up a red flag straight away

It's now the systems work I rekon

I did that last year with three different companies. When i phoned, they were either too expensive once I told them or wouldl't touch it. I'll end up going back to Admiral, who are cheaper than most. But as mentioned hiked my premium by 25%.

It narks me, that car insurance costs increase related to how many miles per year you drive.

If you’ve driven ‘all those miles’ and haven’t had an accident at the end of the year, do you get a larger no claims discount?

Do you fuck!

Why not?

Got to agree.
27 years ago I was driving a shiity Rover 213S. It was worth £3k, and was costing me £450 a year (though I had no NCD at the time), which was close on a month's wages.

We just did the renewal for the Z4 20Si last week. 2015 car, worth £18k or so. £212.
The F31 was £236 per annum last year, renewal in April.
