Windshield Replaced? Initialize your Rain Sensor

I bought my car in 2009 after the windshield had been replaced by the prior owner. I've noticed for the entire time that the auto wiper sensitivity switch didn't seem to do anything... until I reinitialized the rain and light sensor a couple of days ago in INPA while trying to troubleshoot a cruise control issue.
It was raining tonight and 4 positions on the windshield wiper stalk actually changes things now. Tl;dr - initialize your rain and light sensor in INPA after you replace your windshield

Any way to do this without INPA (I'm sure the answers no)? I was wondering since I bought the car why my auto wiper sensitivity didn't seem to do much, seems like the answer is right here.

I had my windshield replaced last year, not at the dealer and my rain sensor works fine.

I had my windscreen replaced by Autoglass last Monday and not had any issues with the different sensor settings. The autowipers are actually working better now than they did prior to the change. They used to sometimes just wipe continiously when there was no rain, or barely anything. Now it seems perfect.

It's dependent upon how worn/pitted your old windshield was, and if the tolerance adjustment is maxed out. Most of the time it will recalibrate itself over time, but if it's maxed out then sometimes it won't be able to apply the right adjustments and you'll need to recalibrate it with INPA.

Wouldn't doubt that it's just more noticeable in the past few years. It's fairly pitted and I do have some stone strikes that didn't spread so it may have gone out of tolerance from the old settings.

I got a new windshield, and a new sensor, registered by the dealer... and the auto system worked as well as it always has, which is pitifully. My 4-position switch has never had any apparent function. Which way is supposed to be "more sensitive", up or down?

I'm unsure about Carly, but it can be done in INPA. You select the rain-light sensor and hit Initialize.
