I noticed that the shifting is easier and better in sports mode with manual transmission....then comfort mode
Why is that?

Throttle response?

I'm the opposite, the sport throttle throws me off and makes my shifts jerky. Needless to say my sport mode is set for chassis only.

According to the manual, in iDrive go to:

1. "Settings"
2. "Driving mode"
3. "Configure SPORT"
4. Configure driving mode.

I can't remember off the top of my head, hope that helps.

I noticed this too and love it. When in the sport modes it feels like it loves to rushed. I find the more aggressive I drive in sport, the better the shifts. When I drive super casual in sport, it gets jerky! Anyways, Im loving the different modes.

personally, I love the throttle response in the sport modes but usually switch between the soft/stiff dampening settings. Roads here are night and day and I switch between the suspension settings accordingly. Some people say they can't notice a difference but to me it's pretty significant.

So, to answer your question, my comfort mode is the standard comfort setting, lethargic throttle and soft dampers. My sport is set to sport throttle but soft dampers and my sport+ is just hardcore mode lol.

I ordered a "stripped" 2016 228i 6MT.
Backup camera and heated seats ONLY for options.

I drive 90% in comfort mode with smooth shifts.

As noted by others.......Sport mode is a bit jerky for shifting unless you are "in a hurry" and on the throttle.

Toggling between Commfort/Sport mode in my 228i affects steering effort and throttle response only....not suspension.

On the track I went to chassis only for the more linear throttle but I enjoy sport throttle day to day. For the jerky shifts, I'd think you'd find your muscle memory would adjust to either one if you stick with it long enough. I still have random occurrences of horrible shifts in this car that I can't explain cruising around town.

I find I couldn't heel-and-toe well in comfort mode due to the "dead zone" in the first few degree of pedal travel. And sport mode has the incessant fake engine droning. So for sports mode I set to chassis only and installed a Pedalbox to remap the throttle separately. Now sports mode just stiffens the suspension, and I can toe-and-heel in both modes.

Definitely the throttle response giving you different feedback.

I also only use sport+ when I want to rip, and the modified driving mode with suspension firm and throttle linear most other times of driving.

I've driven for weeks over the past year in the various modes that use the Comfort throttle, but I always come back to the Sport throttle. It feels much better to me and once I adjusted my seat so that I have better modulating control of the clutch, the Sport throttle is pretty easy to deal with when taking off and executing a smooth 1-2 shift.

I have seriously considered the Sprint Booster because my favorite driving mode is DSC Off, but I find the linear Comfort throttle annoying. It's just too dead in the first 20% of travel and it's way too linear. The Sport throttle and boost onset is pretty quick. IMO, the best throttle would be one between Comfort and Sport and I may pay $300 to get that option with a Sprint Booster DSC Off feels robust and there's no power being cut in ANY situation. I love that plus it's the only mode where the eLSD is active.

i went to check my car options and there is no option for comfort....its either sport or eco?
so is eco settings for comfort too?

There's nothing to configure in Comfort.
