Lightbulb Recommendations on 65"+ TV?

I love my 50" plasma Samsung, but I want bigger. I wish I could get another plasma, but I know they are no more.

TV prices have gotten so cheap that I think it's time to go bigger. I don't need or want a smart TV.
Under $1k. No Sony.

Which models should I be looking at?

I had the exact same thought process last winter right before Thanksgiving. I loved my 59 inch Samsung Plasma, but I wanted a bigger screen and honestly as a weekend gamer, certain static HUD images were starting to but in.

A very minor inconvenience, and some people thought I was going crazy because they couldn't see the residual image burn in that I was noticing. I would literally have to pause an image with a complete white screen for others to notice what I was referring to, lol.

This is what I ended up getting last November. From a person, like you, who wanted to keep the plasma technology going forever, I can admit that this TV turned out to be an excellent replacement.
Sorry I don't have a better close up of the actual screen.

OLED will be the only TV tech I would move to if/when the two Pioneer plasmas die off.

Every time I research TVs until I am blue in the face, I leave with one that I didn't intend to buy...only because it had the nicest picture compared to all of the others. I always stick with a top rated brand though and I've never had any regrets

^^This. Sony blows away Samsung in the 4K market. You'll see many of the better video sites recommend Sony over Samsung.

I'm coming from a calibrated Panasonic plasma. I recommend something with full array dimming. Sony 900 series or even Vizio P series.

I'm looking at buying this one soon. I'll be replacing my nearly 8yr old 60" LG Plasma.

Sony - XBR X850D Series 75" Class (74.5? diag) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV - Black

$2,300 @ Best Buy right now.

I have two XBR's (850B and 850C)...maybe it's me, but the older model (850B) blows away the newer one (850C) picture wise.

The OLED def intrigues me.

I had a strict "No Sony" policy in my house for 15 years due to every single Sony product I'd ever bought broke on the 13th month, just after the 12 month warranty expired. Sony's policy every time was pretty much "so what, too bad, sucks to be you".

I ate my words though on my current TV. I went in to buy a Samsung and walked out with a Sony since it won the "picture beauty contest at the store". I'm in month 8, we'll see how it goes.

I try not to get into all the latest tech and hype.

I originally thought I wanted a Samsung KS9000 series high end model.

I brought home a 75" 4K Samsung JU6500 Series which is technically one of the lower lines, I went in thinking I needed a High End 75" 4K which was some KS9000 series with all the latest tech. But I couldn't find a KS9000 in any of the stores locally and it was double the price of the JU6500.

I brought the "cheap" 75" 4K Samsung home, thinking let me just try it, I can return it if I don't like it. I was blown away by how much better it was than my 2008 era LCD. I'm sure the latest one might have been a little better, but not $2000+ better.

I don't even watch TV much.

Last Sony tv I bought was a 32" Wega Trinitron. :

I haven't decided yet though. I may get another LG.

Samsung ks8000 65. After proper calibration I love this tv.
I wouldn't bother with a 65" under $1k.
