Airport Security Question
for those of you who recently traveled do they really remove gel inserts in your shoes at the check point? i read this on the transportation website that gel inserts are not allowed...
also can i bring cigars in my luggage (not carry on) to thailand? i can't seem to find me the answer to that one. what about air sprays like axe for example?

Axe is banned just for tackiness.
As far as cigars, I think they would be alright since you do not have to declare cigarettes, unless you are importing them for sale. No clue on gel inserts but not the job I want.

does it really say that they remove the gel? i just recently went to Spain through L.A.X airport, and yes you do take your shoes off, but i have never seen anyone pull the gel off the shoe before. And also, you can bring almost anything in your luggage. my friend brings cigerettes from other countries, i believe that you have to have a certain amount so people know that its for your own use, and that you wont sell it to others. hm and about the axe, might be able to bring in your luggage, but i do not know for sure. hope this helped.

cigars/cigarettes are cool if its under a certain amount. i don't know about cigars but they say 1 carton is the limit. last time when i came back from taiwan i brought 11 cartons but all seperated (took out form carton box). i guess i was lucky because that was way too much. i guess you have no problem carrying a few cigars with you though.
as for something like AXE, i recommend you put it in the baggage not carry-on. GL

Cigars will be regulated by customs at your destination. They will limit what you can have, and it varies by country. Generally it's a personal consumption limit. Same will apply when you return to the US.

Yea, anything that says "Caution may explode if punctured"
Can't imagine why they wouldn't want something like that on a plane.

I fly all the time with aerosol deoderant in my checked luggage. I have also taken the little mini-sprays on carry on - had it in my little zip lock bag for inspection and everything!
This covers flights within the US and international to Europe. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtrav...ted-items.shtm |

You can have spray cans in your luggage but not carry on.
Oh man, going back to Japan in 3 weeks. Hate long flights!

for luggage that you drop off at the counter to get boarding passes, do those get opened or just scanned? it is only carry on that the guy digs through right?

It used to be and possibly still is if the luggage comp is not pressurized on some planes. But not any more -- I always carry PAM spray to Europe with me or some other pressurized cans -- no issues at all |

if youre going to fly with some kind of aerosol can in your luggage, i suggest you put it in a ziplock bag because if the storage compartment is not pressurized, youre gonna get that stuff everywhere...

so what happens if they check my luggage (not carry on) and find 7 boxes of cigars (4 in each 28 total) along with 4 cans of brut spray (for friend cause thailand don got), 1 can of foot odor eliminator and thats about it that are my main concerns.
if they search and remove do i get a note saying i can pick up when i get back or they just total loss?

You cant have more than 100ml of any gel/shampoo/parfume in your hand baggage. Even if u do have less than a 100ml, it has to be in plastic bag (pref. zip lock).
All other stuff you can put in the luggage. I flew last time, forgot that i ut gel into my bag, i had to throw it away. IMHO.

Here in Chicago if u are flying internationally, they usually check your bags outside (i guess that's the 1st step only) and if they find something or have any questions, they can always ask whos bag is that/// at least i try to wait till my bags are all searched.
