Open door from inside?

Door was locked and I pull the door handle two times from inside but it didnt unlock?

Is this a new safety feature? or am I missing something here?

If you lock the car from the outside with the FOB, then you can't open it from the inside... Was the same way in the older E46. Did it by accident to my wife one time, lets say she didn't appreate it!!!

actually, I was playing with that. Say if you sit in your car and lock the car with the fob, then yes the doors will not open from the inside no matter how many times you pull the handle. All you have to do is hit the door unlock on the dash and it unlocks the doors! If a thief breaks your window and wants to open your door, and has that information, than that "security" feature is worthless!
