Got offered a Dinantronics stage 2 for $1100. Should I take it?

Eh I wouldn't at that price... you're not getting Dinan's warranty buying it second hand. JB4s can be had for around $350 used.

That's insane. You can get a downpipe, chargepipe, and custom flash tune/piggyback for that price and still have $$ left over

I would. Those recommending JB4 in lieu of Dinantroics provide a compelling argument from the standpoint of value. However, Dinan provides peace of mind. You don't have to worry if the software values are too risky or if it will pass smog. Although you will not have a warranty, you should not have to worry about it because Dinan quality is legendary.

As above, even without a warranty, it's a great product, from the settings to the build quality. I say go for it.

in my humble opinion the only reason for Dinan is the warranty and support network. My understanding is used units do not carry that benefit.

OP is from California and must meet California's stringent CARB requirements. This Dinan product is CARB compliant. Sure, you can use some tricks to keep the CEL from coming on with the JB4, but you'll know it isn't CARB compliant and a sharp smog inspector might know too. I've gone down that road before and value the peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is 100% legal.

OP - if you're going to buy it, make sure it's for an electronic wastegate car, and not the earlier pneumatic wastegate (2012-early 2013 MY). Also check to see if it is the one for cars with MPPK or not - otherwise, it won't work on your car. If you check the Dinan website, there are several models of the S2 tuner - PWG vs EWG and MPPK vs non-MPPK.

If you are getting a Dinan for sure, that price is really good for a stage 2

It would be the smarter choice to get a new one with warranty

Check with Dinan about the warranty - their website states that it is transferable if the vehicle in which it was originally installed is sold, but it doesn't mention anything about re-installing in another vehicle. Also, since the asking price is less than half of the original price, that would probably be what the cost of the warranty would amount to. Note that the warranty runs parallel to the factory warranty, and when that expires, so does Dinan's. Best to check directly with them for the correct info.
