N54, which FMIC to help with low end spool?
Which FMIC should I get to help achieve 550~ hp on 93 to help spool up early? Was reading that getting a big fmic wide piping will be horrid down low but will be great high up in the RPM range. Was thinking ad engineering 650hp fmic but it's pretty big and it's got me concerned.
I'll be running VM's top mount kit with a 6062 gen 2 ball bearing turbo with the 3.5" dp. |

VSRF 7' race intercooler, it's the bestest shits ever man. It's made of titanium and the fin density is tighter than a gnat's ass.

Just look at the designs of the end tanks, then the size of the cores and quality. Smaller core usually means less pressure drop I assume. I would think a 6 inch with a heavy duty core would be the perfect medium! Air flow is important also so definitely just take the front bumper off hahaha

Spool is a function of the aero of the compressor wheel (although you can help/hurt via tune)... and sure, excessive pressure drop will hurt you in a FMIC, but not as much as a poor tune. Remember pressure drop will increase with increased air flow, so at spool you're not really flowing that much air... pressure drop won't be a big deal on any of them that you're considering. We like the VRSF race and the AD-e offerings best.

intercooler is not going to effect spool enough to really notice between any of the options you have

Build a diamond intercooler the size of the stock one.

Here's some 2-4 gear pull logs of our 7" HD on a stock turbo car pushing about 450whp. 12 degree rise, 99f at 2k rpm in 3rd to 111f at 6.1k rpm in 5th.

You won't notice a difference in spool with a decent intercooler.

By nature, a single turbo is gonna require you to keep it on boost and shines as you rev it out. So don't expect ~500 WTQ at 3,000 RPMs like you get with the OEM twins.
