I similarly wonder how my 135is Dinan S2 compares acceleration wise to a stock M2.

I LOVE my car with the JB4. Such a sleeper. Mixed it up with a stock C7 Stingray the other day, and we were dead nuts even. I can only imagine what it'll do with a catless DP and a switch to Map 2. And then there's always meth.

There are tuned 335/340 with bigger stock engine differences (than M2 and 235/240) that will smoke M3s. I really don’t get a lot of the 235/240s communities obsession with minimizing the M2. |

So I suppose you make the same comments on those videos in the 3 forum? I don't see a single comment putting down the M2 and I personally love the M2. Sorry if you confuse folks celebrating what they like about their cars with an "obsession" in minimizing another. Bit strong I'd say. Oh, and did I mention you are on 2addicts?

Agree totally. It's about appreciating the car we own and confirming its excellent performance for dollar invested. When debating ordering an M2 vs. the M240i, I watched a YouTube video of two Brits comparing the stock M2 and the stock M240i w/ some highway racing. They pretty much traded wins during that demo. Figured w/ any kind of tune added to the M240i, it would consistently out run the M2 in a straight line comparison. While I loved the M2 looks (every M car for that matter), that same video showed "in-car" shots of the guys riding in the M2 and I could see how harsh the ride was. Tipped the scale for my purchase of the M240i (added a Dinan Stage 1). I still ogle and "thumbs up" every M car I encounter. Also do a double take of every BMW I see on the road too. So zero animosity from this M240i owner. I figure we are all still a part of the BMW family regardless of the car we drive. |

Great video, expected outcome but definitely shows the capability of both cars. Tune the M2 and it'll bridge the gap yet again making it even closer.
I've had a couple chances to drive the M2 in manual and many drives in a DCT M4 and the 2 wins every day (in terms of sounds and feel, M4 is still beast). The M2 is a great car, but still leaves a lot to be desired. Which is why I bought an m235, to basically leave nothing stock, in the end, as I would have with an M2 to get it where I'd want. Except I have some pennies left in my pocket now, to fuel my other hobbies D |

As stock, the car was plenty fast, w/ the Stage one, it's in a different league. You should be fine w/ the Stage 1, unless you take traction control off and want to light the tires up. |

///m235insecure because I want to justify not buying an M2?
How someone who bought a 235i covered in more ///m badges than an actual M car could criticize the M2 as a marketing gimmick is beyond me Last edited by supsup; 07-09-2017 at 03:06 PM.. |

nice one.
It took you a couple tries to get that post correct huh? Stock vs. stock the m2 is a better car for tracking and has a power bump. Once you start spending money, i'd stay with the 235 all day. Ill go up against any m2 in any challenge. On drag, already left a few busses behind. Why you even on a bmw board if you drive a Cls63? trolling?

i thought M240 didn't need anything to walk on M2 in the first place. M240 is an animal.

I own both a M2 (MT) & a M240i (AT)
For your general daily driving necessities such as commuting and going to the grocery, the M240i is the clear winner. It's a really comfortable car, even with passive suspensions. The M240i is also significantly better in a straight-line than the M2. However, in terms of the actual driving experience, the M240i only has speed over the M2. Spirited driving in the M240i doesn't even come close to the thrill the M2 gives you! The M240i has the better engine, sure. But the M2 has all the rest. |
