Happy 150th Canada Day....(in advance)

Fellow Canadians - any plans for Canada Day? Looks like weather is going to be rainy most of the time around where I am, but if we get a little sun, going to be sitting on the dock with a few cold ones if I can swing some time away from the kiddos.

For my American counterparts who do not understand what Canada Day is, I've inserted a helpful video here.

Also found this video...not a terrible sketch which is surprising given its from CBC.

My plans? Stay as far away from downtown Ottawa as possible. Going to be an absolute shit show with all the security.

Going to watch the fireworks from my terrace with a bottle of wine....or two.

I'll eat poutine, drink milk from a bag for breakfast, Molson XXX for dinner, and a couple shots of maple syrup for dessert.

Aside from the Molson, good man! Your time in Canada, short as it may have been, has paid off!

For sure - I have had no desire to go to Ottawa for any of the previous celebrations, and given how this one will be bigger, I can't imagine the security (since it would make an appealing target for terrorists no doubt) and the line ups. I think I'd be so frustrated by the end that it would ruin the day for me.

The snowbirds did a show near me, was just so-so. The CF-18 though was pretty good - amazing what those planes can do. I'm guessing at least one CF-18 will be there in Ottawa, should be a good show if you can catch it from your balcony.

To be fair, Labatt is my every day beer now that it's offered in 12 packs at the grocery store (was only avail in 6ers in NC).

With all the road closures downtown, this entire week has been horrible. They have half of downtown closed to traffic, pig piles of sand blocking the streets, tractor trailers being used to block the streets. Anyone going anywhere near Parliament has to go through a full security/bag check and metal detectors.

The Snowbirds are always a good show, and they often flyby my condo close enough you can actually see the pilots.

I can see the bridge between the Museum of Nature and Parliament perfectly from my terrace, can actually watch the fireworks while lying in bed. If I go to our common rooftop terrace you can see Parliament perfectly.

I will be raising my red and white (wine glasses)!

Happy Canada day to all my friends from Canadia.

My Son plays in a marching band and we were lucky enough to tour parts of Canada three or four years ago.

They played in the parade in a tiny little place called Bruderheim and the entire group, about 100 including supporters, were treated like royalty.

Happy days!

Well, you have to understand that Toronto is the Centre of the Universe, their trash is so good that they felt the need to enlighten the US by sharing their trash in order to start bring the US around to their way of thinking......

Happy Canada Day, and an early Happy 4th of July to our friends south of the boarder!
