How long for engine to cool to change plug

I had a misfire on the work to work this morning. I have to drive it back to my house tonight and I will be fully cooking under the hood by the time I get there.

Assuming I leave my hood open, how long should I wait to change a plug out. I don't have a fan or anything to help cool the engine and its hot as fck here in Texas.

Hopefully its just a coil pack, but I figured I would ask now just in case.

Id at least make sure the temp gauge was back on the peg. Good way to foul up threads on an alum head by backing a plug out when hot.. if its warm to the touch.. it can have an effect.

I've always done plugs when engine is cold and never had a problem, aluminum or otherwise. No sense sweating over a hot engine if I don't need to.

I live in Houston. First leave the hood open and take off the engine cover. That will speed the cooling a bit. For sure overnight it will cool completely. If you're in a hurry then at least a few hours. These engines get and stay hot forever!

Until it doesn't scold you. Or just wear gloves.
