PCV Valve replacement problem
I bought a RB PCV Valve replacement and gotten to the point where I'm about to pull out the OEM valve.
I just can't pull the d**n valve out? I'm gripping fairly tight with needle nose pliers but all I do is slip on the valve. Do I really need to squeeze to a tighter grip or is there a better tool to get the grip on the valve? I haven't remove the fuel line, didn't think it should be necessary by reading DIY:s and watching this video: This guy just pulls it out without seemingly much effort (the valve that is). To you who did this, what's your take on it? |

Did you buy the RB PVC Cap too? A little pricey but it's a nice addition. |

I would take off the fuel line. Takes 2 seconds and makes things way easier.

To what Newton meters should the fuel line be torqued? Didn't hear him mention it in the video but maybe I just missed, will double check. Oh, and is it normal that the valve is stuck so hard? |

it snubs up pretty quick. When you first turn on the key you will know if its tight or not ;-)
My pcv was still free at 120K miles and was removable by hand, but I had a OCC for 100K miles.. IDK.

You may have to get a set of curved lock down pliers.... |

Edit: I meant wrench tight and a quarter turn. You can gauge it when you take the nuts off. I think 18 ftlbs is the spec but that is off the top of my head and I'm probably wrong. |

The pcv valve itself though seem stuck unless it also has to be unscrewed? Then I'm an idiot.. Last edited by Fedorov; 07-14-2017 at 01:08 AM.. |

My 335i E92 is from the very first batch of E92s made in november -06.
It has 62 137 miles on it (fairky little for that age). I noticed now on the video he said that the pcv valve has threadings but they aren't used? Could it be that maybe they are used but discontinued in later/facelifted models? |

I know some people say to put a drill bit in the valve so you can put a pair of pliers on it to get some leverage without worrying about it breaking or cracking. Mine was fairly tight.

Yes, seems like a good idea, I found one that fits into the hole. Maybe if I remove the fuel line I can apply more force if that all that's needed.

Ok, after a lot of hazzle and a trip to the shop to get the right tools for removing the fuel line I got it loose.
If you're inexperienced like me then removing fuel line is mandatory. Could not get my upgraded pcv valve cover to thread correctly so I reused the oem cover. Have no torque wrench either so hopefully I screwed it back on tightly enough.. Time will tell. This is not a 10 minute job for someone doing this the first time, more like 1-2 hours.. |

Federov. How did you ever get the pcv out? I’m having the same issue and feel like it’s threaded or I’m going to crush the nipple on it? I’ve applied alot of pressure to it with a wrench but it’s not budging Thx
