Fastrak not visible - Wrong code written - VC23302 (a)(2)

Anyone have experience with this law? Looks like he wrote the wrong code on my ticket (for motorcycles) but I was driving in a car. VC23302 (a)(2) is the code he wrote.

Any chance fighting this one?

I thought even if it wasnt visible or you 'forgot' it they would just charge it to the registered plate? NEVER knew you could get a ticket for it. I've driven through FasTrack on accident or because I was stuck in the lane and couldnt get over, and they just mail me a bill... thats shitty dude. Must've been a bad day for that guy

This was the express lane in the bay area, it's a $250 ticket... NOT having the Fastrak at all would have been a $30 fine.

Ahhhhh, like carpool on 237 right? I gotcha now... yeah, I have zero experience with that.

Wow.. that's really stupid, I don't understand that fee structure at all. Going off your thread title, if your transponder was not visible, did the cop ask you where it was and you just pulled it out? Or did you violate some other law like not having the correct number of people indicated (or is this just a SoCal thing)?

I'd reach out to a traffic lawyer (check yelp) and ask your odds of fighting the ticket.

Yep, it was 680 a bit north of the 237 interchange.

Worst part is, I was commuting from Tahoe to my office near San Jose so this was 4hrs into the worst Monday commute ever.

No he said "I pulled you over for not having your Fastrak visible and I showed him the box assuming that'd solve the issue"

Can't believe this isn't just a fix it ticket.

580 WB was a bear this morning, so I feel ya.

I'd be curious on this too; I want to hide my Fastrak beneath my center vents (where there would normally be a center channel speaker for audiophiles), but if this is verbotten then that might put a crimp in those plans.

I would at least show up to court since he wrote down the wrong offense.

That Tahoe to San Jose drive can be brutal. I do it at least one a month. Moved to Truckee from the Bay Area and go down the visit family now and then.
