raced my friends is350!!

Hey guys, im pretty new to this, so jsut wondering...I raced my friend not even an hour ago, we made 3 to 4 runs. Im driving my e92 with a turbo tuner and the bms intake, im driving in steptronic mode. He is drivin a stock is350, and at 80 miles an hour i was 2 car lengths ahead of him. Here lies my question, is that good or should i be pulling more at the point.

This was on the track right? You can't post street races here.

Makes me wonder how you would do against an IS-F. Any comments about this?

We'll see how apt you are to let this go on if one of your loved ones is killed by some idiot street racing. Personally, I was almost killed by someone and in a seperate incident a close relative was a passenger in a car that was street racing and he was killed (18 years old).

Read the header on this section: Absolutely no street racing topics and that's the reason I brought it up.

Go to a track where it's safe and a controlled environment.

Grow-up.

spirited driving is the same as street racing? not in the least. in spirited driving, you're not competing against someone, therefore you are less likely to make a dumb decision for the sake of winning said competition. you are less likely to push yourself to drive above your abilities and the ability of your car in that particular environment.

Yes, I drive "spiritedly", ON THE TRACK! I go to at least 3 - 4 track days per year along with several AutoX events. This is where I drive my car the way it's supposed to be.

I'm not exactly sure why the moderators haven't closed this thread. Like I said, have someone close to you KILLED by some idiot racing on the street and you'll change your mind. You may be in "control" of your car, but what happens if the moron you're racing against loses control, hits you and then you hit someone else and kill them. You'll have a long time to think about it in jail.

Yes, that's me in the picture standing next to Mario Andretti. We've spoken about the way people drive on the street numerous times. He really thinks it's scarey that manufacturers are making these cars with so much potential so accessible to "Joe Shmoe" with no professional driving experience.

an E90 is a track car now?
I guess it's better than an E91

get off your high horse... seriously... and what? dropping Andretti's name is supposed to give u some kind of credibility? The dude asked a simple question and your post was not helpful at all and was completely off topic... I'm sure the mods know how to do their jobs...

anyways, to the OP
I think that you should be pulling more ahead of him considering you have an SSTT
I would have speculated that's the outcome of stock vs stock...

Why don't you apply to be a moderator? You are just as helpful as they are in repling to posts. At least thats their job, whereas I question what you are doing during work hours.

I was thinking that the other day. If I had this car at 16, I so would be dead... Even an old 320i with 120 hp was more than enough. Now its sheer bliss and terror wrapped in one. But, as always build it bigger, stronger, better and people will test it out in non ideal situations.

A couple weeks ago, I was thinking how I'd go against an IS-F too.

Anyone have any experience?

umm look under is-f vs 335i,

houstonT ran his SSTT e90 335i aganist IS-F at the track 4 times, he won ALL 4 times.

there is a video on street fire and another one on youtube during the supra event in texas.

2 cars is pretty good by 80mph, im sure by 110mph, you would have doubled that margain easily.

maybe you missed my point. it's the mentality in the driving that makes street racing dangerous. it's the competition and the constant push to be faster than another person. you keep going and going and most people who are in "racing mode" don't know when to stop until they're already past their limits.

when you're driving spiritedly on the street by yourself, you don't have that mentality. you are able to tone it down when you have to. unless you're dumb of course...

If someone races in the street, let them be responsible for their own mistakes from the outcome.

No matter what you say, its still going to happen

+5000, I agree street racing isn't smart, but let the law (and the mods on the board) sort out the rest. Real sick of the goodie goodie mentality.
