Slight Metallic rattle on startup?

Just posting this just as a precaution. Bought my car last Thursday, 2013 e92 335is 30k miles. When I start up the car I hear a metallic-like rattle that immediately goes away after like a second. The car is completely stock. Is this an issue/going to cause any issues? The car drives perfectly fine its just something I noticed and wanted input on to be safe.

do the n55 use the same cold start noise reduction as the n54. If so its probably the exhaust flap

That was my first thought, maybe its the exhaust flap resetting/initializing or whatever.

He has a 335is so it has the N54. That metallic sound is most likely the exhaust flap closing. You can leave it open by doing the "golf tee" mod which means just unplug the vacuum hose on it and plug it with a golf tee.

It's the exhaust flap, you can unplug the solenoid by the left tail light which will prevent it from shutting or just leave it be and know it's nothing to worry about.

I have the same rattle. Super annoying especially considering that I had the exhaust replaced under warranty for the same issue a few years ago. I secured an airplane clamp around the valve to add tension to it; and it doesn't make a sound anymore yet still operates correctly.

Just going to wait until I get JB4 and keep the flap open all the time. Hopefully that works.

Is there any way you would be able to send me some pics of how you did this?
