Didn't see any Eclipse pics - here's mine
Shot from right outside of my office in Rockville, MD. No totality here but we got about 82% at the max. Did my best using a stack of filters (UV,ND,CPL) and then a friend let me borrow his "solar eclipse" glasses to try. I ended up holding them over my lens by hand and trying to cover all the little gaps to block the rest of the light to catch these shots.
Cloud shots taken with filter stack, others with the makeshift solar filter glasses setup My instagram: instagram.com/msteelio91 Enjoy! Why can't I see my screen any more??? It's been 40+ years since mom said I'd go blind.

Yes, I was using a 1.4x TC, so the effective focal length was 560mm. These are also pretty extensively cropped.

That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, and believe me, you need to see it in totality to get the full effect. We were lucky enough in St. Louis to get it for 90 seconds or so where I live and it was a perfectly sunny day. The moment it went to totality was incredible, you could see stars, the corona, bugs started buzzing, and to cap it all off an owl hooted and flew directly over our heads. It was amazing, and I will certainly travel again someday to see it again (though I believe it might happen here again in 2024!).
Thanks for the pics! |

Man, I regret not bringing my DSLR to work... This was taken with my phone and jury-rigged with a cheapo set of the sunglasses/goggles type thing. I'm embarrassed...
