Hmmm...while I like the idea of owning an American muscle car...I don't think I would ever buy one.
The GT500 has an overly macho/butch attitude about it. A lot of drivers seem to dislike Mustang drivers. But then again...same could be said about BMWs. But the 335i is so refined tho...argh....yeah I would buy the 335i. |

What about a Roush Mustang? Supposed to be MUCH MUCH MUCH better suspension than the GT500...in the words of Jeremy Clarkson: "sure the Shelby has more horsepower (than the Roush Stage 3 Mustang)....but trust me on this...it doesn't matter...it REALLY doesn't matter. Because out here on the track...the Roush is way, way, faster." But then he proceeds to have a race between the Lotus Exige S vs. the Roush...and the Lotus wins. Heh. 3 words:
Solid. Rear. Axle. You do NOT want to be anywhere near a vehicle with one of those unless it's a truck.

The stock ZSP suspension at ~80% of its limit is nothing to boast about. It floats badly, probably due to the poor stock dampers and soft spring rates. Granted I haven't ridden in a car with an aftermarket setup (with say KW2's), so I can't speak from experience in that sense. A solid rear axle Mustang, "properly" set up, with handle on par with (or dare I even say better than) a 335, even an aftermarket one. Properly set up means the rear end is converted to a 3 link by either a watts/tri-link or a panhard rod/torque arm. Also, a well designed set of lower control arms are necessary, as well as springs and shock/struts and subframe connectors (yay, unibody!!). It's true that the suspensions in Mustangs up to MY 04 were from the Ford Fairmont days, but let's be fair about it. My DD Mustang I use for work easily out-handles the 335 (again, my 335 is on the stock ZSP), but my Mustang isn't stock either. I'm not shit slinging, just trying to set the record straight.

Pluses for the Mustang:
-much more tune-able (if that is a word) than the 335i. Let's face it...we're not going to see a turbo or supercharger kit for the 335i that upgrades the power to 600+hp. Whereas on the Mustang you do and you have several options. -the sound...jeez that whine of the supercharger is awesome. the opening scene in "I AM LEGEND" which has the Shelby GT500 driving around abandonned NYC...awesome! although you would think he would find a better abandonned vehicle than that...but hey...whatever. -the suspension in the GT500 may suck...but it can also be tuned by purchasing the Roush suspension... |

Yeah but try to find a M Coupe for that kind of money in the US. Can't be done.
The Shelby is way cheaper in the US than it is in the UK (where Jason Plato is reviewing the car). |

it makes it around top gears track in 1:30
the wrx sti, vwr32, and s4 are all slower around the top gear track if you look at the list,it's one below the cl65(stupid rubber burning power)..i guess the gt500 just dominates the straights

Heavy car. I bench 300lbs and lifting the hood wasn't the easiest. But I agree, hearing the S/C is cool as hell. It sounded bad ass on "I am legend".
