Atl 3 Across America
The event was look and touch but no driving. I was fairly impressed with the car. The interior did not have I-drive and I found the layout to be simple and modern and liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to. The materials used were quite nice, far superior to the E60. It felt solid and driver focuses. There was ample amount of space both front and back...
The exterior I really liked from the pictures but when I saw it in person I was not as impressed, the trunk looked stunted and did not complete the lines from the front... the door handles stuck out so far it felt like an OPA door handle... I'm sure the exterior will grow on me but I can see the sedan making a great coupe with all sections looking in proportion. I asked the only BMWNA there about the M3 and its released date and was told that I could do a 3 year lease on a 330 and by the time my lease was up it would be about time.... This does not sound right; a BMW model is normally out for 6-7 years... So the E90 sedan comes out as a 06 and will be around till 2012... So if the M3 comes out in 3 years as a 09 it will only be produced for 4 years as a 09, 10, 11 and 12??? Not sure about that one I still think it will come out Oct/Now of next year as a 07. |

Believe it or not, thats about the right timeframe for the M3. In the past, the way BMW would release cars would be:
year 1: sedan year 2: coupe year 3: M3 so, say 1999 would be the SEDAN 2000 would be the coupe 2001 would be the M3.. 2006 would be the SEDAN 2007 would be the coupe 2008 would be the M3. your lease on a 330i would be up as the M3 had been on the selling market for a few months probably. This would go along with BMWs normal pattern, but for some reason I think with the E90, the timeline will be accelerated a bit to try and get the new M3 out there, so that they can really smack AMG and Audi-S around a little. Ps, how how you say the interior of the E90 stacks up to the E46 in quality, I know you said it is alot better then the E60, but how about E46 ? |

I have not spent enough time in an E46 to be able to compare the quality of the two... But I can say the E90 felt very very nice, I did not find many places that felt plasticy or flimsy, unlike the E60... Now the styling I can see some people not liking but I walked away thinking it was very nice. I did own an E36 M3 and I would say that the E90's interior is superior. It just felt solid.

Mark, as for the time line... I called all 4 dealers in ATL to try and get a better idea. They all said the coupe would be released as a 06 but the month varied from Oct/Nov of this year to May 2006... I just have no clue, but my dealer still says I should have my M3 by Oct/Nov of 2006 as a 07 model year.
