LOL
funny you said that Soni, I had my car serviced yesterday and I told them not to update the DME. The technician said ok, but he also said that if I want my seatbelt to be fixed they may need to update the DME. To which I replied, forget the seat belt arm, I can grab it myself. *shakes head* Those evil bmw technicians. |

Just want to know how long the install takes and what kind of problems if any I will encounter and if you install the valet chip in the glove box or not.
It is more comforting to know someone close to me that runs this just in case I run into a problem. |

it was difficult to feed the valet switch to the glove...you have to lift the ecu box. other than that just take your time. the AP took 1 1/2 hours and the valet another 1 1/2.

tomtom are you in the GTA???
This is what happened.... I followed the step by step instructions on the CD. The really only 4 parts to the whole thing. 1. Remove all the covers to get to the ECU 2. follow the corresponding numbers and colors to re-wire the ecu 3. Ground the circular wire/ring 4. remove/reconnect the solenoid hose Start the car up and idrive lights up with the following... a) Engine Malfunction - reduced power warning b) DTC malfunction - please drive carefully, no turning at excessive speeds c) DBC malfunction f) tire pressure monitor malfunction I thought this might be topical, so I took the car out for a spin. The accelaration was very slow, and 2nd gear had no pull and I could not redline. So we went back to the garage. Check all the wires to make sure they are tight and in the right spot. Again, same warning lights were on and the drive was crap. We had already tried to upload maps and sync it to a laptop via USB, but the program could not detect the ECU, the "status" shown on the program was "ECU not detected". So after 2 hours, we decided to unplug everything put it back to stock, turn on the car and everything was fine. Again we tried to do it one more time to see if it works, we followed the instructions to the tee...turn on the car...again same warnings. So after 3 hours, we decided to give up and revert everything to stock. After about 5 minutes of driving without warning lights, the "engine malfunction" light came on. Now the scary part was when my car was hooked up to the AAP, and I was trying to get the ECU to hook up to the laptop while the car was running....the engine all of a sudden just shut down. Since I can't contact AA on weekends, I will have to see what they have to say tomorrow. But if anyone can help me.....please let me know here or PM me. Thank you, |

I tried to install this thing 5 times over the weekend, I missed the Wasaga Cruise because of this....
I called them on monday the engineer emails me the wiring diagrams, I followed that as well and it still didn't work. When they say they have "live support" over the phone.... it doesn't mean much when they can't solve your issues. |

did you disconnect the battery prior to install?
I don't think you are suppose to do software/map updates with car on and battery connected. Double check with AA. yeah I am in TO. The AA is probably the most reliable/safe tunes out there IMO. Moderate gains and AA has long standing reputation with BMW tuning. The Shark Edit looks promising now however. |
