DISCLAIMER: Not wanting to start an iOS vs. Android war. I'm an Android guy but I respect both platforms.

I have the Note8 on preorder but wifey won't touch anything other than the iPhone. I think both platforms are very capable and at this point it comes down to what you're used to.

Anyone looking forward to this? Annoncement is supposed to be at 12pm Central Time. They are announcing a few things, 3 phones in all, but I'm only interested in the X (not sure if official name).

I must admit, I'm a bit jealous of the X if the design turns out the be the "ear" one. That thing looks slick af.

Her 6+ has been making her miserable lately so she's ready for an upgrade. However, the supply will be limited and I have no idea what her chances are of being able to preorder one when the websites go live.

I know that it won't prevent her from trying.

Preorders are rumored to start as soon as Sept. 15th 2am Central Time. Anyone going to try to snag one? What are your thoughts on the design? Anyone going to skip the X and just get the iPhone 8/+?

I'm due for an upgrade, so unless it completely sucks or has no real functionality over my 6s, I'll probably get it.

What I'm not a fan of is potentially getting rid of Touch ID.

I'll be looking at the Keynote. I'm on Google Pixel now and waiting for the Pixel 2 announcement on October 5th, before that my first Android was the S7 edge and then before that I was all iPhone.

I'm going to guess about 90% of the rumors that have been floating around the last 6 months are true. So the design leaks, renders, iOS 11 leaks, etc. Leaks have been pretty accurate for about the last 4 years like the removal of the headphone jack.

I've got an announcement today with the launch on the 22nd and an extremely short supply of just 300k units stockpiled. Also, the rumors I've read have that their supply chain isn't fully ramped up either because of delays. I think it will be very hard to get one, but if you do then it could be flipped for a lot.

No app drawer no Bueno. I just can't get past how cluttered iPhones look with all the apps on the screen anymore.

I'm on a S6edge now and most definitely want to upgrade.

Depending on what happens today will determine my next route. A lot of my stuff at home now is Apple so I might want it all to interface with each other.

But the only way I'm switching to Apple is if there is something simply ground breaking with it. I'll also have to check it out in person.

I'm in no hurry but will probably go with the Note 8 if Apple disappoints yet again.

I just can't stand a company so arrogant that they expect you to learn a completely new operating software, keyboard shortcuts, and the way to do things, and then charge a premium for their products.

No thanks.

That being said, I have such a bleak outlook on the human race and the ability of people to think for themselves instead of being sheep that I'd probably invest in Apple to make a buck or two.

P.S. I want to start the Apple vs. Android war.

I have a personal 6s+ and a work 7+. I could upgrade either/both to the X, but waiting to see what the actual announcement says. I feel like Apple has changed their stance now and is leaking everything ahead of time to spike the stock etc and then the keynote really doesn't tell you anything earth shattering.

I am interested to see what they do with the Apple TV. I skipped the Gen2 upgrade since it wasn't 4k/UHD. I am using my NVidia Shield TV (UHD/HDR/Atmos capable) and streaming Playstation Vue, Netflix, Amazon and Vudu through it. Very happy and have plenty of stuff to watch without paying $250 for CATV. So Apple will have to have something more compelling than UHD/HDR.

You're missing a fundamental point. It's not about people not wanting to think for themselves. Life has gotten so fast paced and complex, most people don't want to think about how their phone works or customize every possible scenario. Unless it's an interest for you, tweaking and customizing technology is very frustrating for the average user. They just want it to work and there is NO denying Apple does a better job at that.

You trade some smoothness and predictability with customization and the ability to work on multiple platforms. It's great, when it works. Currently, I can't even make a call smoothly with my Samsung Note because the software has become a laggy mess. Battery life is atrocious.

The leaks in iOS 11 have been tied back to potentially a disgruntled employee that has been fired from Apple. Apple is addressing this and spending significant resources to ensure this won't happen again.

You and me both. And I don't plan on replacing my phone unless it breaks, then will probably just buy a newer used phone. Contracts can go to hell.

Since they adopted LTE to cell phones, I have not seen anything on the newer phones that is any great advantage.

cant wait to ditch my iPhone. been using a company android |Samsung s8| for the past few months and fell in love. camera is obviously better everyone knows but I like the workflow of the os also. will be getting the note 8 as soon as it hits stores.
