Going to do a compression test, have a few questions.
-The car is a 2009 328i xDrive
-My wife just bought it a few weeks ago. -I'm going to change the spark plugs and figured I'd do a compression test while I have the plugs removed. -I'm going to pull all the plugs and coils before I do the test. -Is there anything that needs to be grounded? I know in the "old days" the ignition coil could be damaged if the plug wires weren't grounded. (Not necessarily on BMWs; I've seen it happen with a GM HEI coil.) I'm concerned about damaging the ECU. I don't think removing the coils and doing the test will be a problem, but I'd sure hate to be wrong. -Where/which is the fuel pump fuse? -I know I need to buy a quality service manual. Thanks in advance! |

Do yourself a favor and get the Bimmergeeks diagnostic
cable download and setup Ista d and Inpa on a PC. Ista d is what BMW used in its shops for the length or the e90 production . Its a manual and diagnostic all in one. It requires a some time to learn to use. It will have the factory procedures within it. See the coding sub forum. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368 There are many subforums within this site and a lot of stuff on DIY on ytube, http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=378 |
