a concern i have that somebody can hopefully answer.

- my landlord has been complaining about his property (3 familiy home),im living in. is being damaged by the occupants. now i know ive done nothing wrong and have nothing to worry about. today as i leave my apartment, close the door and walk out into the common hallway that attaches all the apartments i see there are cameras installed in the hallways. is this allowed?
they are not in my living space,but in the hallways and the perimeter of the building. wondering if this is in violation of any laws?

anyone who has info on this is greatly appreciated.

If its not in your living space or anyone else for that matter, then i don't see anything illegal for the landlord to set up security cameras in the hallways. It's his property.

thanks. thats what i was figuring. is there any website that gives more info on tenant/landlord rights?

By law in my state the land lord must provide either a copy of rights or let you know where to get a copy of the rights from the state. In AZ you go to the secretary of state to get a copy (I think its online also). I have no doubt CA has something similar.. But mostly it applies to rights of entry and evictions along with rules of rent and deposits and correcting defects.

Take a picture from where the camera is, and place it in front of the camera...
