Tire Size Change Question
Hi all,
My car came with stock 225/40-18 tires and 461M rims which are 7.5Jx18 ET 45, I would like to upgrade the run-flats to PS4S tires. Since they don't offer 225/40-18 tires, I only have these options below. (Five 19's and only one 18's) Does anyone have any suggestions for what size I should get? If I am getting 19 inch tires, I also need to get some 19 inch wheels. Thanks in advance PS: My car is xDrive so it's a square setup. |

you will need to review the options with a tire calculator.
With the limited size availability, you may have an issue. The closet match for minimal speedo error is 235/40-18. ( I checked this morning because I want to dump my run flats sometime soon, too. |

You can choose either BMW oem 19-inch staggered wheels (if I remember correctly they are truly forged, such as style 405, you look up your options at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...W-M235iX&mg=36) or aftermarket.
If aftermarket, look for 8.0 or 8.5 x19 ET37-38 fronts and 9.0 or 9.5 x19 ET45-44 rears, e.g., 8x19 ET38 + 9x19 ET44. or, ET40 fronts plus 3 mm spacers with oem lugs and ET47 rears with 3 mm spacers and oem lugs. (3 mm spacers are the only spacers you can use safely with oem lugs and not run into any issues, vibrations or anything). If aftermarket, there are some good and relatively inexpensive flow-formed options in different widths and offsets from VMR, HRE, BBS, etc. (you can look up some examples in the "show off your vmr and non-vmr threads on here). If you go custom-made fully forged, they'll be significantly more expensive but you can specify with the manufacturer whatever you want. In this case, if you go 8.5 and 9.5 wide they can make them more concave which may look nicer (but will be slightly heavier and a bit more prone to damage). |

Have you called direct to TR and the dealership about other sizes? I bet that they will release these in the staggered 18" size eventually (225/40 and 245/35 IIRC), and may not advertise it at first, except through specialty sources. Once they start realizing that they are losing customers to Conti's and Pirelli, they may even get a move on.

Tire Rack ships to Canada without any issues, just enter your postal code on their site to see duty, shipping and taxes. I bought a set of 18” OZ Omnia wheels from them for our M240i earlier this year and have had about 10 sets of wheels and/or tyres from them and had them shipped direct to Calgary over the past dozen years or so.
