Pure Stage 1 and Stage 2 Turbos?
Hey guys,
I'm looking at turbo options from Pure. It looks like they have Stage 1 for about $1800, Stage 2 DD for about $2900 and Stage 2 hi-Flow for about $3400. Does anyone know the difference between stage 1 and stage 2? https://topgearsolutions.com/pure-tu...turbo-upgrade/ Also, has anyone used Stage 1 or Stage 2 DD that can describe how quick the power comes on as compared to stock....? Thanks much!

I have not even seen stage 1 pure turbos for N54, but you can also check out franken turbo, as it seems to be an option as well.

I also find this all a bit interesting. I know the consensus has always been "PS2", but to be honest, I'm interested in something a little more mild from both a turbo build/performance perspective as well as from a financial aspect. $1,800 for something a little more stout/reliable than stock is a lot more appealing than $2,900 for my personal goals. But maybe I'm just the minority.

Please don't go with vendors like frankenturbo just to save a few bucks. They outsource the machining and all the work to the lowest bidder. They are nothing but a reseller of cheap junks you can find on eBay and AliExpress.
If you want a stock frame turbo, go with pure. They are the only turbo vendor on this platform who actually have the capability of getting everything done in house.

Stage 1 is less power then Stage 2, approx capacity of up to 500HP.
Stage 1 is typically for those who prefer a slight upgrade over stock. Stage 2 is for those looking for a real big bump in power. The stage 2 has an option for DD for 450-600 HP and Hi Flow for 600+ HP capacity. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 01-08-2018 at 04:40 PM.. |

Stage 1 power is similar to stock, i would not get it unless your stock turbo has failed or is failing. If you are looking for more power, get stage 2

Hey, I have Pure stage 1 turbos on my car, I like them a lot but I also wish I saved a little more and got stage 2.
I also Installed relocation inlets and outlets on the car when I got them put in which definitely helped the car breath more all together. I don't have e85 around me so I'm not pushing them super hard I max out at 18 psi. But coming from pretty worn out OEM turbos these definitely change the cars dynamic. The spool is crazy fast! If you can save for stage 2 definitely do, I was just in a rush to get them done. But all in all I am very happy with their performance so far!
