SOS not available warning??
Started my car after the movies today then I saw a triangle warning sign. Did a check and it shows a no sos sign. What does this mean?

I got the same today - crossed out SOS. I couldn't turn on audio or BT either. Shut off and restarted the car a few times to no avail. Did it again in 3 hours and evrything started working.

BMW assist isn't working is what it means. but if bluetooth isn't working as well it could be the sign of a failing TCU. It went out in mine and had to get it replaced. If it happens, try hitting the sos button and see if it actually does work. It shouldn't..

I've had this happen to me 4 or 5 times in two years. The last time was 2 days ago. For me it seems to be related to having my car sitting for 2 or 3 days in airport parking. My radio, bluetooth, and the date and time do not work or show on the display. Idrive does not function either.
If I get the SOS message when I start the car, if I just keep driving, it eventually appears to reboot the idrive and then everything starts working again. I've never had the dealer check it since it happens so seldom.

I've had a similar problem with my radio/bluetooth but since it's only happened twice in 8 months I rather wait. Also, as other have posted, if you turn off your car and turn it on again after a couple of minutes (or hours sometimes) it will be ok again. |

I believe it stands for Telephone Communications Unit. Basically it is your bluetooth and BMW Assist in one.

Last time I had this problem, I simultaneously pressed both eject buttons (cd and nav) and the mute/volume knob in, and the I-drive rebooted. And it was up and running in about a minute....
Not sure if this is the proper way to reboot the system, but this definitely worked for me! |
