Bilstein backorder ... End of April

Well this sucks. I was set to order the b16 pss10 setup the other day, and apparently they and most other things Bilstein are on backorder till "the end of April / beginning of May". According to the guy at Bilstein and 3 vendors. They are moving their machining to another building..

I have March 10th circled on the calendar to install them, right as the weather changes. The tools are already laid out and the garage is clean, I'm not waiting until May.

So it looks like the b16 won't be going on the car this round... I've got one vote for kw v2s as a fair alternative, but meh, I dunno, for some reason I have it in my head that kws are [not as good]. ?

Any suggestions for a good alternative. Ohlins and TC Kline do not offer a kit for the xdrive. I am open to a mix match shock / perch / spring. Budget is $1-3k, daily driver, no track, somewhere in between stiff and not stiff. I do need adjustable height to get it dialed in .. and would like good adjustable dampers as well.

I was going to get the bilstein b14 for my 340i X drive. Like you said, everything was back order till beginning of may. But i had one shop here in Quebec, Canada that installed everything on my previous 435i. I ask him if he could get one, he said everything is back order as i already know.. the day after he call me back and said, i have a supplier who has 1 left for your car!! Damn...i've ordered it! haha

Yeah I was hoping there's one set in the corner of someone's warehouse .. so far can't find any.

Nothing comparable .. besides the ohlins, which don't exist sadly. Any suggestions

So you're saying I throw these fire summer wheels on and ride around with 6" wheel gap for 2 months .. I dunno guys

Ordered B14's on sale from ECS last month and UPS lost the package...

Been waiting for ECS to ship my replacement set, I was told they'd have them around the 20th

TC Kline offered one of the best xdrive kits on the market for the e90 chassis. Contact them, they might be able to do the same for your car.

By the 20th .. are you sure they don't mean April 20th.

I've never had UPS lose anything ... unless they were theifed, they should turn up. I've had the postal service lose things in the wrong bin or under the table for months but everything always turns up.

The problem is, the wheel gap is driving me bonkers. Every time I look at the car I can't see anything else .. which is a shame.

So ... I googled the part number and clicked every link. There is ONE SET in Bilstien UKs hands .. It is now in the Royal Mail's hands, en route to my garage. I had to overpay a bit on the shipping, but I have one old credit card with "no foreign transaction fee". To the eventual UK reader in the next few weeks looking for a set .. I'm sorry, I had no choice.

Hopefully the courier can get it here in one piece before .. May .... I think so

I would hope they haven't been lying to me but

This is also the first package I've had lost in transit. It was scanned into a distribution center on 1/18 and hasn't been updated since then, reported it to ECS who in turn did to UPS over two weeks ago now. Hopefully they just show up, but I'm not holding my breath.

i think bilstein and kw are both quality brands and kw actually costs slightly more if comparing similar kits.

however, if you feel that kw are "not as good", then definitely do not get it...

EDIT. seems the kwv2 dampening adjustment knob is at the top, which is rubbish for adjustability. bilstein has theirs at the bottom(way more sensible) so i suppose you should wait for it.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a 6” Wheel gap on a F3x series.

I was told that a year ago. I wouldn't hold your breath. It's amazing the shortage has gone on for so long.

plus one for this,

I ordered mine Feb 2018, was waiting for 6 months before I gave up, rode around all summer at stock height before settling for BC Racing coilovers.

Rumor was they moved their factory and that is what was causing the delay.
I am highly disappointed to hear that this is still a issue.

Good luck! I had a hell of a time getting B8s in the Fall of '17. I think I got the last ones made.
And Bilstein is still farting around? I hope their engineers are better than their managers....

If the delay is caused by moving production lines, not opening a parallel production line first to protect revenue is unwise. Then again, the root cause may not be known by us, consumers.

That's encouraging news. By any chance, did the person from Bilstein discuss the full product availability in May / June or only selected products?

I have been specifically asking about the B16s, so don't know if that covers a broad line of products.
