Would you do Michelin PS4S or A/S 3+ in my position?

I have 403M wheels on my F30 with Bridgestone RF S001. Not super impressed, always been a fan of how Michelins feel.

I had Pilot Super Sports on my Acura TL-S and loved them. The only thing that worries me is cold weather.

I spend most of the time in California, but take long road trips every so often. My longest one with the Pilot SS was a trip from Orange County to Hot Springs, Arkansas via highway 10, and took 40 back. It got below 20 degrees Fahrenheit a few times, and while my tires never had any issues during or after, I was stressed about cracking or losing traction.

However, the majority of my trips are monthly or bi-monthly 1000 miles to Tucson, AZ and back to Orange County. No problem during summer, but it's been as low as the 30s in Tucson and not too much better in Orange County lately!

If you were in my shoes and price *wasn't* something to influence your decision, which would you choose?

PS4S are fine, just remember when it is below 40F to be a bit more careful. If you said snow, then A/S.

Even driving in Chicago in near 0 degree weather, summer tires held up fine for me. You obviously have to be careful, but the traction is still predictable. Like others have said, if there is even a hint of snow and ice, you need A/S tires at a minimum.

as long as you don't hit snow or ice you'll be fine. If by chance you do, the car will literally have ZERO grip.

I would be more worried about that, as you'll more than likely wear them out before they start to crack.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I would not even take all season tires on the snow; snow tires in the snow or nothing.

I also avoid the south when the bridges ice over. Looks like PS4S are what I'm gonna get!
