Took delivery yesterday. Pics and first impressions
Hi everyone,
Disclaimer- These are a quick impressions. I have not had much seat time and roads are still $hit here in NY and cold so I have not tested the handling aspects of the car yet. The car sits high. I personally am not a fan of that and lower all my cars. It felt a bit tippy despite the CF roof. Or perhaps I'm used to tighter and lower CG cars. My M6GC was lowered and already I can feel that it was less tippy, albeit lowered ride height and low roof line to begin with so unfair comparison. The tech inside and the appointments are sublime. I'm very happy. Looks amazing at night in the cabin. Wow!! Big step up BMW, well done. I hate the 9 iron shifter. I am not too thrilled with new tranny. I already miss the crispness of the DCT. I understand why BMW had to go back to conventional TQ converter transmissions, but I prefer the feel of a DCT. It's not bad or anything, just a subjective opinion. As some of you may know, the car is de-tuned for break in. I suppose there should be a noticeable difference after the 1st oil change. However, it's still fast as hell. I can't imagine what these will feel like after a tune and DP's. I rolled into it hard at a light till 60-70 and it's an animal. Head was planted into the headrest...Daddy like. The ride is very very smooth and it's very quiet in the cabin. The car tends to lean more luxury than performance IMO So like I said, I need more time but I'm happy. I had an E60, F10, and M6GC... I didn't like the F10, I liked my M6, but still the E60 M5 I miss. It's sad ///M had to change course due to emissions and the HP war. The E60 was more visceral IMO and fun, plus the sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! This car is vapid in that regard. (Turbos are mufflers that make power) |

Not this again....the de-tuned before break-in service? I thought that was a urban myth? I certainly did not feel a difference after break-in service with my F80....and my dealer confirmed that was crap....when that rumor started a few years ago.
Looks great, btw! |

Damn dude! Been a long time since Iv'e seen you around! Congratulations!
9 Iron Shifter, that's hilarious! First time I've heard that one. Lol! Thanks for your thoughts. I find your thoughts to carry more weight since I know you've been there and done that. That being said, your sentiments about the E60 M5 never rang so true. A deeply flawed car, but damn that sound! Miss it so much! Hence my plan to get another E60 next, and then maybe a G90 M5 in 2024 assuming that they actually get rid of the S63 engine next time. I'm also looking into getting more electric cars in the future along side my M5's. So far the new Jaguar I-Pace seems awesome. Can't wait for the Porsche Mission E though. That way I'll have my high powered turbo car, a V10 car and an electric car. A good combo I think. Please post more pictures and thoughts when you get a chance.

Electric will certainly be the way of the future. The myriad of gains is irrefutable. However, to me, theres nothing better than a high revving screaming banshee NA engine. It's not just about speed for me, it's the overall experience and the audible aspect is a huge part for me. Thats what's missing from the newer M cars IMO. Hold onto your NA ///M cars ladies and gents, wait 20 years and they will be highly sought and valuable. |

great looking interior--is that Smoke White?
It looks more Smoke White than Silverstone, but I thought that only Silverstone had the black center panel. |

That's the Silverstone interior. The individual interiors don't have the black stripe down the middle of the seats.
