Rental damage
Good morning y'all,
I had a rental car through BMW while my CPO was being fixed. Just took a look at the tailgate, and there's a crease/dent in the tailgate, and one of the exhaust tips is slightly extending out the bumper farther than the other. Not sure how the dent could have happened, since the bumper is undamaged. Declined rental insurance, what's the move? Noted some bumper damage on the walk-around, but I don't want to pay for something I didn't do. |

I returned a rental with a 2" door ding. They charged more than $3,000 for the repair, but my VISA covered everything.

Er, for some reason I thought you meant a BMW Loaner.
If it was a rental car from Hertz, etc., if you used a Visa to pay for it (doesn't have to be high end as said earlier) then Visa automatically provides insurance if you used it to pay. |

It's a rental agency at my BMW dealership for some reason. Gotcha.

I once had a rental Mazda5 while my car was in the shop. I slid on ice into a curb & cracked the bumper. I JB Welded it, sanded that down & then grabbed some silver paint (car was silver) to slap on the JB. I proceeded to get the car muddy to hide it a bit more. They did not notice at turn in. They called me a week later to collect for the damage. Sorry, you've had the car a week now. I didn't do it. |

Just keep it shut.
Only time I spoke up was 10 minutes after picking up an x5 loaner and getting back home I noticed a brutal scratch on the driver mirror that I'd have never noticed without really looking called them right away they said no worries |

Smart move. I use my Visa Signature for all rentals and decline LDW. It sounds like you did the same. They most likely won’t notice; however, if they do, it sounds like you’re covered.

I once sat in a parking lot watching someone leave their shopping cart by their car, drive off, wind picks up, cart starts moving then starts picking up speed down a hill and completely slams into a parked car bit further down the road. Driver that left the cart there sips on their rainbow frappuccino oblivious to it all at the red light at the corner.
Urban sprawl life... that's how stuff like this happens. |

He continues on to attempt to maneuver into the spot, and in doing such hits not only one yet 3 cars. Both side, and 1 in rear. He then proceeds to feel happy as a clam and attempts to go about his business and walks into the hair place I had just left. I couldn't stand what it was I just saw, followed him in and my very first words in front of maybe 10-15ppl to the guy was.... "get your fucking ass outside and find these cars owners, and until you do me and "nina" will sit here and go ahead and call the cops"! This dude was so oblivious, he was either drunk off his add, or high.... or Both. Acted as if he knew nothing I was talking about... |

It was a business rental, so I would not tell them about my personal car insurance. VISA paid for everything, even at the grossly inflated price.

I've been a driver for 20 years now and only once hit something. It was a rental in Croatia, i was backing up in a park and hit a tree stump, gave it a good whack and there was visible damage to the bottom of the bumper.
I turned the car in, lady hands me the paper to sign that there wa sno damage and i took off like i stole it. How she missed it, I will never ever know but damn did I get the hell out of there in a hurry once signature was in hand. |

Except you don't actually hand in dealer rentals, not here....you just park them outside and go home. Rentals are checked probably within next 12 hours or so. Lot also has ton of cameras where they could potentially note the damages.
