Uh oh. I guess I have index 1 injectors. Are they still doing the recall?

My car has a 3/26/07 build date. I've been doing some work on the engine and noticed the injector part number indicated index 01. The number matches those in the voluntary recall. Do you think BMW would replace them for me? The recall was for build dates 4/2/07 on according to the attachment in the linked thread.

I guess it never hurts to ask. So, do I call my dealership or bmwna first?

Call your dealership. They will know if the recall is still open, and if it was done on your car it will be in their system.

I was also a march 2007 build and the assholes would not cover it when my injectors failed and fried my ecu back in 2012 at 82k miles.

They will probably walk away.
The car is 11 years old.
Don't know the mileage but that is enough for them to walk away.

Just got off the phone. They won't do it. Less than a week off the date range of the recall... Dangit. I guess they're working fine right now, so no harm no foul. Once I start tuning it I was expecting to see some problems pop up, so I thought it would be nice to replace before I get to that point. Anyone know if the prices on injectors will ever come down? They've spiked recently, and that's annoying.

The injectors in the early 07's and late 06's never had issues.

I would however, change out the injectors if your are going to tune. You'll also need new coils and plugs as well.

You might be able to save some money by getting the first version of index 12 vs the 2nd version. There is an article on the FCP website about them.

A recall is a recall. They said they would have done it if my car had been manufactured 6 days later.

Yup. I didn't expect much, but I had to ask. I do all my own wrenching for a reason, mostly because I don't trust the dealership to do right by me without BMW footing the bill under warranty.

Mine was March 2007 build just like his and they failed at 82k miles. It's a ticking time bomb IMO and I would get them replaced.

Yep, before 3/07 they used different injectors all together. Different brand and everything. I have an 01/07. I am still on the original set of injectors at 150,000 miles and the car runs like a champ
